As the lead event planner for Thompson & Co., she had overseen countless weddings, galas, and corporate events. But tonight's charity gala was different – it was her first high-profile solo event.
The venue was a luxurious Manhattan hotel, its opulent decor and crystal chandeliers reflecting the wealth and status of the guests. Lexi's team had worked tirelessly to ensure every detail was perfect, from the red carpet entrance to the exquisite catering.
As she surveyed the room, Lexi's gaze landed on a tall, dark-haired man standing by the bar. His piercing blue eyes seemed to bore into her soul, making her heart skip a beat. She quickly looked away, focusing on the task at hand.
"Lexi, we need to adjust the lighting," her assistant, Rachel, whispered urgently.
Lexi nodded, her mind already racing with solutions. She expertly navigated the crowded room, exchanging smiles and nods with the guests.
Just as she was about to reach the lighting control panel, Lexi felt a sudden jolt. She stumbled, her heels catching on the hem of her dress. Time seemed to slow as she watched in horror, her body hurtling toward the floor.

"Are you okay?" he asked, his deep voice sending shivers down her spine.
Lexi nodded, still dazed. "Y-yes, thank you."

With a polite smile, the stranger turned and disappeared into the crowd, leaving Lexi wondering if their encounter had been more than just a coincidence.
