Chapter 3: Group Projects and Unwanted Feelings

232 Words
Adrian started coming to class early. Not because he cared much about business strategy. But because Lena always sat by the window, in the same spot, ten minutes before class. And now, so did he.“Morning,” he said, sliding into the seat beside her. “Again?” Lena raised an eyebrow. “Didn’t know you loved this class that much.” He smirked. “Maybe I just like the view.” She looked out the window, confused. “The trees?” He didn’t answer. He didn’t have to. During group discussions, he listened more. Spoke less. But occasionally, he’d glance at Lena when no one was looking. She laughed with Mia. Helped the quiet guy with his notes. She always brought her own cheap coffee in a small thermos. Nothing about her screamed “special.” And yet… Mia started noticing. She nudged Lena one afternoon. “Is he into you?” she asked bluntly. “What? No!” Lena almost choked on her tea. “He stares a lot.” “He stares at everyone.” “Sure,” Mia said. But her tone said otherwise. That night, Lena lay in bed, staring at the ceiling. Adrian had bought her coffee after class. Said it was “too bitter” and gave her sugar packets — three of them, just like she liked. He was remembering things. About her.
