"You bastard! How dare you hit me!" Bob roared in fury, pointing at Drake. "Do you believe that I..."
He paused, suddenly realizing he had nothing to threaten Drake with.
"What do you want?" Drake sneered. "You must be mistaken. My business partner is Miss Emily Foster. Who do you think you are, trying to replace her? Look at yourself!"
Bob was stunned, stammering, "Emily is my cousin. She's not as capable as I am. Why can't I replace her?"
"Because her name is Emily Foster. Now get out!" Drake's roar nearly made Bob wet his pants.
Drake pointed at Bob's face and said, "Listen. If Emily isn't here to sign the contract by 3 PM, the Foster family will never have the chance to cooperate with the Destroy Steele Group! Not only that, but you'll also become our target! Try me if you don't believe it!"
Terrified, Bob ran away.
Back at the Foster family's old mansion, Hanks was chatting with Ladyship Foster, boasting about his son's ability to secure a-hundred-million-dollar project. Ladyship Foster nodded in satisfaction.
Suddenly, they saw Bob running in, looking flustered. "Bob, why are you back so soon? Is the contract signed?" they asked.
Bob, looking pale, couldn't say a word.
"What's going on? Are you mute?" Ladyship Foster's face darkened as she slapped the table.
Bob composed himself and started his fabricated story. "Grandma, I didn't expect Emily to be so vicious!"
"What do you mean?" Ladyship Foster frowned. "You went to sign the contract. What does this have to do with Emily? She's not in charge anymore."
"That's how it was!" Bob feigned anger. "But she shamelessly seduced the chairman of the Destroy Steele Group, Drake, who now refuses to sign with anyone but her! He said his business partner is Emily Foster, not the Foster family!"
Ladyship Foster slammed the table in fury. "What a joke! Isn't Emily a part of the Foster family? Isn't Joyland Realty our property? She's trying to break away from the family!"
Ladyship Foster paused, then asked, "Wait, didn't you say yesterday that Emily had offended the chairman of the Destroy Steele Group? How could she seduce him? And isn't she married to that guy, Jack?"
Bob was momentarily stunned, cold sweat breaking out. Luckily, he had prepared his lies. "Grandma, aside from that, my cousin is indeed very charming. She used some tricks to succeed. As for Jack, he's a fool who doesn't know his woman is cheating on him."
Hearing this, Ladyship Foster no longer doubted him and sneered, "What a disgraceful Emily! I didn't know she was this low! Hanks, call Frank's family. I need to ask them how they raised such a disgraceful daughter!"
Hanks agreed and was about to make the call when Bob quickly interrupted, "Grandma, now is not the time to fall out with Emily and her family."
"What do you mean?" Ladyship Foster asked.
Bob replied, "Drake is already infatuated with Emily. He said if she doesn't sign the contract by 3 PM, the Foster family will have no chance, and the Destroy Steele Group will target us. For the sake of the family, we must pretend to know nothing and let Emily sign the contract."
Hearing this, Ladyship Foster frowned. After a moment, she said, "You're right. Let Emily sign the contract first."
"Great!" Bob sighed in relief, feeling proud of his cleverness for handling such a tricky situation.
But the next second, Hanks said helplessly, "Mom, Emily's phone is off."
"What?" Ladyship Foster was stunned. "Call Frank and ask him."
"I did. Frank said Emily went out with Jack early in the morning and hasn't returned," Hanks said, looking helpless.
"What should we do?" Ladyship Foster was anxious. It was less than an hour until 3 PM. If Emily didn't sign the contract, things would get complicated! "Damn girl! Once this is over, her family will pay for this!" Ladyship Foster roared in anger.
Meanwhile, Emily was actually at the amusement park with Jack. Cindy had recovered well enough to walk, so Jack decided to take them out for some fun.
As Emily's boyfriend, it was normal for Jack to carry her bag. He noticed the phone vibrating inside and knew who was calling, so he turned it off while Emily wasn't looking.
"Jack, wait here. I'm taking Cindy to the restroom," Emily said. Cindy had been enjoying ice cream and drinks all morning and needed to go.
Jack nodded. After they left, he took out his phone and called Drake. Upon learning about Bob's scheme, he said, "Good job. A small family like the Fosters dares to mess with my woman? They must have a death wish!"
"Sir, should I just destroy the Foster family and help your girlfriend establish a new one?" Drake suggested.
"No need. Emily values her family ties. Even though her relatives are awful, she can't bring herself to hurt them. Let's leave it for now," Jack said calmly. "By the way, any update on the Shaw family?"
"The information has been sent to your email," Drake replied respectfully.
Jack was about to say more when a commotion caught his attention. He hung up and quickly walked over.
"What's wrong with you, kid? Saying such things will get you beaten up!" In the crowd, a sleazy-looking fat man was yelling, his face red. Behind him, Cindy clung to his coat, her face flushed with anger. "I'm not lying! I saw you taking photos of women in the restroom!" Cindy shouted. The crowd murmured in shock.
Several women who had just used the restroom were both surprised and furious. They rushed over to confront the man. The fat man swung his arm, knocking Cindy to the ground. "Everyone, listen to me. This kid is a beggar. She asked me for money, and when I refused, she tried to frame me. Look at her shabby clothes and malnourished appearance. How could she afford to be at an amusement park? She's just a dirty beggar!"
Hearing this, the crowd turned their attention to Cindy. The clothes she was wearing were the ordinary ones that Jack had asked Emily to find for her that night, and they didn't fit very well. Jack had planned to buy her new clothes after the park visit, but now this had happened.
Seeing the crowd's hesitation, the fat man felt relieved. He glared at Cindy and raised his hand to slap her. "You little brat! How dare you frame me! I'll beat you to death!"
"Cindy!" Emily, having just washed her hands, saw the scene and rushed to stop him.
"Great! A beggar teaming up with another to frame me!" The fat man didn't expect an adult to intervene and quickly accused them.
"Who are you calling a beggar?" Emily snapped, glaring at the man.
Some people in the crowd couldn't stand seeing a man bully a girl and spoke up.
"Man, I think you're the one framing her. How could such a beautiful woman be a beggar?"
"Right, you pervert! You deny taking secret photos and even accuse others of being beggars. If it weren't for this lady, would you have hit the little girl?"
"Guys, stop talking and teach him a lesson! Make him show his phone to see if he took any photos!"
Several men stepped forward menacingly. Just then, a group of thugs pushed through the crowd. Their leader, a scar-faced man, shouted, "What are you doing? Causing trouble in my territory? Want to die?"
The men who had stepped forward immediately hesitated. Scar was notorious in the area. Years ago, he had chased someone with a knife for eight streets, cutting off the person's hand. He was terrifying.
Seeing Scar, the crowd stepped back. The fat man shouted in relief, "Bro, you're finally here! These people were trying to hit me!"
Everyone was shocked. The fat man knew Scar? The men who had stepped forward quickly retreated, fearing being recognized.
The fat man whispered something to Scar. Scar's eyes lit up as he looked at Emily. "Alright, but I want a full set of photos after this." Scar grinned, waving his hand for his men to grab the men who had stepped forward.
"You tried to hit my friend?" Scar's voice was cold. The men were terrified, unable to speak.
"Beat them! How dare they touch my brother!" Scar ordered, and his men started hitting them.
In an instant, screams filled the air as the onlookers quickly dispersed, afraid of being implicated. Emily, realizing the danger, tried to leave with Cindy. But then, a chilling voice stopped them. "Did I say you could leave?" Emily turned to see Scar sneering at them.
"My bro told me everything. You dared to accuse him of taking photos?" Scar shouted, making Emily's face turn pale.
"What do you want?" She held Cindy tightly, her expression tense.
"Isn't it obvious?" Scar leered. "Come with me to those woods. Make love with me and I'll let you both go. Otherwise..."
"Get lost!" Emily shouted, realizing his dirty intentions.
Scar's face darkened. "You b***h! Guys, grab them!" But no one behind him moved.
Scar turned, confused, and saw a young man standing behind him.
The young man's eyes were cold, staring at him as if he were a dead man.
