This time, everyone saw clearly that the one who had acted was Jack!
Jack sneered, "Ray Stone has some skills, but he taught a bunch of trash who can't even tell who hit them." As he finished speaking, he suddenly burst into action. Jack moved like a shadow, swiftly weaving through the thugs, delivering rapid strikes. The thugs were all sent flying before they even had a chance to react.
The air was filled with screams. The middle-aged troublemakers were terrified and fled the construction site without looking back, afraid Jack might attack them too.
"Who…who are you?!" Billy lay on the ground, unable to move, glaring at Jack.
"Call your boss and tell him Jack Steele wants to see him," Jack said coolly.
Billy hesitated but eventually pulled out his phone to call Ray, the Boss of Northside. Ray Stone, known for his fiery temper, was initially furious to hear his men had been beaten and that the opponent had specifically asked for him. But upon hearing the name Jack Steele, he fell silent.
Billy was about to ask what was going on when Ray's excited voice came through, "Tell Mr. Steele I'm already on my way and ask him to wait a bit longer!" With that, Ray hung up.
Billy was left standing there, dumbfounded.
"Jack, what's going on?" Emily approached, nervous.
"It's fine. Leave it to me," Jack said, patting her hand to reassure her.
Soon, a black BMW drove into the construction site. A burly, fierce-looking man with a buzz cut, accompanied by two bodyguards, quickly walked over. This was Ray Stone, the infamous Boss of Northside!
Emily instinctively grabbed Jack's hand; her palms sweaty with anxiety.
"Mr. Steele!" To everyone's surprise, Ray bowed deeply as he approached Jack. Billy and his thugs were stunned, their mouths agape. Even Gavin, who had been pretending to be unconscious on the ground, was trembling with fear. 'I couldn't believe the Boss of Northside was bowing to Jack. I called him a loser earlier; I must be out of my mind!'
"Ray, it's been eight years. I didn't expect you to become the Boss of Northside. Impressive!" Jack smiled slightly, his tone teasing.
Ray Tiger, looking embarrassed, said, "Mr. Steele, please don't joke with me. If it wasn't for you giving me a meal back then, I would have starved to death by the roadside eight years ago. There would be no Boss of Northside. I only regret that I wasn't strong enough to avenge you when the Steele family persecuted you."
"I don't blame you," Jack said softly. "At that time, you weren't the Boss of Northside. Even if you used all your strength, you wouldn't have been a match for the Steele family. Not coming to die was the right choice. But you should know, Emily Foster is my wife." Jack's eyes narrowed, his tone turning cold. "Who gave you the guts to let your men cause trouble on her project?!"
"I-I didn't…!" Ray was confused and quickly turned to Boss Billy and the others. "What's going on, you bastards? Who told you to cause trouble here? Are you looking to die?"
"Boss, we…" Billy stammered as he stepped forward. "We didn't know about Mr. Steele's connection to you. We just saw the large scale of the project and wanted to extort some money. No one ordered us."
"I'll kill you!" Ray couldn't control his anger, raining down powerful slaps on Billy's face. Soon, Billy's face was swollen and he was barely conscious.
"Enough," Jack commanded. Ray stopped immediately and pounded his chest. "Mr. Steele, don't worry. I'll have their arms broken to make sure they remember this lesson! From now on, I, Ray, will protect this construction site. If anyone dares to cause trouble, I'll tear their heads off!"
"That'll do," Jack smiled. He had specifically brought Ray Tiger here for this reason. With the Boss of Northside backing the project, Emily wouldn't have to worry about troublemakers, saving a lot of hassle.
"Mr. Steele, please let me treat you to a meal. I owe you so much for what you did for me back then. Now that you're back, I must show my gratitude properly!" Ray said sincerely. Jack looked at Emily, who nodded slightly, so he agreed. The three of them then walked out of the construction site toward a nearby hotel.
Meanwhile, one of Carry's men was secretly watching from a corner. When he saw Jack and Ray together, he quickly hid.
At the hospital, Carry was enjoying Chloe's services when his phone rang. He answered it and asked, "So, did you find any useful information?"
"What? Jack's backing is Ray Tiger, the Boss of Northside?" Carry's eyes widened in shock. 'No wonder this guy was so arrogant, daring to kill Sir Leo. He had the Boss of Northside behind him! But why would the Bosses of Northside and Southside suddenly clash after so many years of peace? The gangs in the city were about to erupt into chaos!'
Meanwhile, at the Foster family's old mansion, Bob was being punished by Ladyship Foster. After one hit, Bob screamed and scrambled behind his father for protection.
"You dare to run? If I don't beat this scoundrel to death today, I won't be able to calm my anger!" Ladyship Foster showed no mercy, raising the stick for another strike, but Bob's father stopped her.
"Mom, one hit is enough! He didn't know that woman was Miss Lily Carter from the Carter family. If he had known, he would never have insulted her!"
Hearing this, Ladyship Foster cursed angrily, "This time, I had to pay with three of our shops to make the Carter family back off. Do you know what a painful loss that is for our family, which has only just started to recover?"
In the hall, none of the Foster family members dared to speak. Bob, his eyes cunning, spat out, "Grandma, it's not my fault. Jack and that little b***h Emily set me up. If it weren't for them, how would I have insulted Miss Carter? Who knew they were classmates? I was tricked by them!"
Hearing this, Ladyship Foster suddenly remembered something. "Speaking of which, what's Emily up to these days? Without my funding, can that broken company of hers still survive?"
"Grandma, I heard from a friend that Emily recently got a big project and has already started construction," a young Foster family member stepped forward and said.
"What?" Ladyship Foster's eyes widened. "With her current capabilities, what big project could she get? Did she go to beg Mr. Long of Extinguish Steele Group again?"
"It seems… it's the redevelopment of the Northside slums," the young man said slowly after thinking for a moment.
"What did you say?!" Ladyship Foster's eyes nearly popped out of their sockets. Grabbing the young man's arm, she asked, "Are you sure you didn't hear wrong?"
"No mistake. That's what he said," the young man nodded.
Ladyship Foster suddenly felt weak and fell backward.
