Chapter 75

972 Words
In the villa at Dragon Crest, Emily was having dinner with Cindy and Tina when Simon rushed in, looking anxious. "Miss Foster, Cindy, come with me through the back door!" he urged. "What's happening?" Emily asked instinctively. "I can't explain now. Just come with me!" Simon said urgently, picking up Cindy and motioning for Tina to pull Emily along. But as they reached the back door, they were surrounded by a group of armed men dressed in black. The captain ordered coldly, "Stop! Surrender!" While Simon prepared to fight, the men in black aimed their weapons at Emily and the others. The captain sneered, "Mr. Cooper, we know you're skilled in hand-to-hand combat, but do you want to see if your fists are faster than our bullets?" They had already been informed about Simon's formidable fighting abilities. Hearing this, Simon stopped resisting. He could handle these men, but Emily and Tina were just ordinary people. He couldn't risk their lives. "What do you want?" Simon asked through gritted teeth. "Hands on your head, squat down!" the captain commanded. Simon had no choice but to comply. Emily and Tina felt guilty; if it weren't for them, Simon would have easily escaped. Just then, a man in black approached carefully, holding an iron rod. "Bang!" The iron rod was raised high and smashed heavily onto Simon's back. Simon groaned in pain and fell to the ground. Tina screamed in horror, rushing to his side. "Please, don't hit him, please!" she begged. During this time, she had come to know that Simon was the poor man she had saved, and they had become a couple in their daily life. But she hadn't expected such a thing to happen before their sweet life could begin. "Pull her away!" the captain ordered. "Simon is trouble. Young Master says we can beat him to death. We just need to bring Emily and Cindy back!" "Understood!" Several men in black immediately pointed their guns at Simon. Tina held onto him tightly, her face full of determination. "Stop, I'll go with you. Just let them go!" Emily shouted as the bodyguards prepared to fire. However, the men in black showed no intention of stopping. They would not leave Simon alive, lest he become a future threat. At that moment, a burst of rapid gunfire rang out. The men in black were caught off guard and fell to the ground. A group of masked men rushed in to save Emily, Simon, and the others. "What's going on? Jack has no power in Wyndcrest. Who dares help him?" the captain muttered, bewildered, before taking out his phone to report the situation. At the base of a hidden mountain, the masked men finally halted. "Thank you. Who are you?" Emily asked the masked men. "Miss Foster, you don't need to know who we are. Wyndcrest is too dangerous right now. Leave here quickly!" said one of the masked men in a low voice. His voice sounded like that of an old man. Emily furrowed her brows. It seemed familiar, like she had heard it somewhere before. Simon thanked them again and quickly left with Emily and the others. At that moment, the masked man who had spoken earlier pulled off his scarf, revealing an old face. It was the elder from the Carter family who had appeared on Falling Star Night. He took out his phone and made a call. "Miss, we have safely rescued and escorted them away." "Got it. Thank you, Mr. Larry," Lily replied happily over the phone. "Miss, this may not be worth the risk. If anyone finds out, the whole Carter family could be implicated!" the old man said with concern. "I'm sorry, I was too willful. If anything happens to the Carter family in the future, I'll take responsibility alone. I'll never implicate the family!" Lily said firmly. Hearing this, the old man could only sigh helplessly. He couldn't understand why Jack still fell in love with Lily even though she had already made it clear that she wouldn't fall in love with him. At the Shaw family villa, the Shaw family and the Steele family were having a discussion. When everyone learned that Emily and the others had been rescued, they were incredulous. Was there still someone in Wyndcrest daring enough to help Jack now? That person was courting death! "Find out who it is. I want to know who is bold enough to go against our family," Zachary said coldly. Next to him, Lisa said, "Could it be the Foster family?" She had undergone skull surgery, but her words were still biting. "Impossible. The Foster family wants Emily dead even more than we do," Zachary replied with a sneer. Suddenly, Henry said, "I seem to remember that Jack has some connection to the Carter family!" He recalled Jack being invited to a banquet by Lily, where his hand was twisted by Drake. Similarly, it was Jack who destroyed the Steele family that night. After a moment of silence, Zachary said, "Alright, I'll send someone to investigate." Against a behemoth like the Shaw family, the Carter family had no ability to resist at all. At this point, a young man from the Steele family said with a smile, "By the way, didn't Jack want us to apologize to his parents before? What if we dig up his parents' graves? Won't he go crazy?" Hearing this, the room fell into silence. The young man quickly stopped smiling, realizing he might have said something inappropriate. Only then did he remember that Robert, Jack's adoptive father, was Henry's biological brother. No matter how bad their relationship was, they shouldn't desecrate Henry's grave, right? Just as he was about to apologize, Henry said, "That's a good idea. We just want to torment Jack. I want him to suffer a lot!"
