Chapter 80

844 Words
The Carter family members' expressions changed upon seeing this. They had witnessed Jack even daring to beat the Shaw family's young master. With the patriarch acting this way, wouldn't Jack end up in conflict with him? Drake was about to step in, but Jack stopped him with a glance. It was his fault; the Carter family had every right to be angry. "Sir, I'll cure her," Jack said firmly. "How will you treat her?" Arthur glared and roared angrily, "Before we came in, the doctor told us that Lily has become a vegetable, and her chance of recovery is less than one in ten thousand!" Arthur's body trembled with excitement. Jack frowned, then said, "Give me three days. I'll wake her up." He considered that traveling to Shine Mountain would take one day, leaving him two days to seek help from the Icarus family. "How can I believe you?" Arthur demanded aggressively. "You don't even explain how you'll treat her, and you want me to let you go? What if you run away!" Jack was momentarily at a loss for words. He couldn't disclose the Icarus family's matters without their consent. Suddenly, a firm voice spoke up, "I'll vouch for him. I believe he can cure Lily within three days!" Everyone turned to see that it was Emily who spoke. "I know you. You're Jack's girlfriend and a member of the Foster family," Arthur said coldly. Emily nodded. "That's right. During these three days, I'll stay in the ward and be responsible for Lily's care. If she isn't better after three days, I'll be at your disposal. Even if it means giving up my life, I won't resist!" "What?" Everyone was shocked. They hadn't expected Emily to make such a commitment. She would not only care for her 'rival' but also be accountable for Jack. Why? Jack was moved and looked at Emily with a complex expression. Arthur seemed to be influenced by Emily. "Well, since you've said so, I'll give you a chance. If you can cure Lily in three days, I'll let you go this time. If not, Emily will pay with her life!" "Don't worry, you won't get that chance," Jack said firmly, then turned to leave. He drove straight to the mountain. Over an hour later, he reached the foot of the mountain. Faced with the dense forest, he was unsure how to find the Icarus family. Just as he was about to ascend, a young man emerged from the woods, chasing a rabbit. "Hey, friend, help me catch it!" The young man called out excitedly when he saw Jack. Jack did nothing, allowing the rabbit to run past him. "Why are you like this? The rabbit was right in front of you. Why didn't you help catch it?!" The young man complained. Jack picked up a stone and threw it casually. The rabbit, which had run far away, was hit by the stone and fell, kicking its legs. "I've helped. Can I go now?" Jack said impatiently. He was in a hurry and didn't have time for hunting games. The young man was surprised, grabbed the rabbit, and ran to catch up with Jack. As he turned to thank him, he saw Jack had already walked far away. "Hey, bro, that was impressive. Can you teach me?" The young man caught up and smiled. "You're a bit annoying," Jack said coldly. "Don't be so irritable. Teach me how to fight, and I'll show you the way!" The young man grinned. "Do you know where I'm going?" Jack asked, his interest piqued. "Hey, you're looking for the Icarus family, right? I'm a local and know this area well!" The young man laughed. "Deal!" Jack agreed immediately. It was better to have a guide than to search on his own. The two of them started up the mountain together. However, they hadn't gone far when an old man in linen suddenly appeared before them. "Are you Jack?" the old man asked coldly. "Who are you?" Jack frowned. He was pressed for time and didn't want to waste it. "I'm here to kill you!" the old man shouted and charged at Jack. "Watch out!" The young man yelled. To ordinary people, the old man's speed was like lightning, but Jack only shook his head slightly and avoided the attack. He then swiftly grabbed the old man's wrist. "Bang!" The old man fell heavily to the ground, spitting out blood. "Impressive!" The young man couldn't help but give a thumbs-up. The old man, stunned by Jack's strength and speed, stood up, keeping his distance. He hadn't expected Jack to be so powerful and knew he needed to use all his strength. "Go to hell!" With a fierce shout, the old man launched a brutal attack on Jack. However, before he could get close, Jack kicked him away, slamming him into a tree trunk. The old man not only vomited blood but also felt dizzy! As he began to slide down the tree, a hand grabbed his throat and lifted him into the air!
