"M-My Lord!" Kaid stammered, his face as white as a sheet.
"Get lost!" West roared again. Today was the first time he had lost his composure since he became the City Lord.
Kaid couldn't withstand the intense pressure from West and rushed off the stage, feeling utterly humiliated.
"Everyone, the antique porcelain provided by Mr. Steele is real!" At this time, West raised the porcelain in front of many guests. "Because this porcelain was identified by Mr. Watson and Mr. Newton, the collection masters. Even if you doubt my judgment, surely you trust theirs?"
Hearing this, many guests began murmuring in agreement.
"City Lord, how could we dare to doubt your judgment."
"Yes, we also think that porcelain is real. That's why we're bidding!"
"It seems that Mr. Medhurst was tricked into buying a fake!"
Now, all eyes were on the Medhurst family. Kaid's face was pale, yet he remained defiant. How could the porcelain he bought at the South State Auction House for three million dollars be fake?
West pointed to a hidden mark on the porcelain and said, "Kaid, the Collection Committee issued an announcement a year ago. A top-notch counterfeit team made a lot of epic-level fakes! A long time after their retirement, someone announced that the fakes they made have this symbol!"
Hearing this, Kaid and the other guests hurriedly pulled out their phones to search for the information. In the end, Kaid looked pale and could not refute.
The guests present hurriedly got up and began to applaud.
Nancy stood there, dumbfounded. She had never imagined that the porcelain would actually be real! The fake in the hands of Kaid was sold for three million dollars, which meant that it could really be sold for thirty million dollars!
She actually gave up the money! Nancy felt her blood pressure skyrocketing.
Finally, the auction came to an end.
That man didn't dare to accept it anymore. He quickly returned it to Jack. He promised that he wouldn't take back the money from the auction as a charity. He valued this opportunity to get closer to the City Lord.
Soon, the charity party ended in twists and turns. Jack and Emily walked out of the banquet hall side by side.
"Stop right there, Jack!" Before they could get far, Nancy shouted angrily from behind them.
"Auntie, what's the matter?" Jack asked lightly.
"Give me that porcelain!" Nancy was so greedy that her eyes turned red.
"Mom, how can you do this? This isn't ours." Emily couldn't stand anymore and said, "You even asked Jack to take it out of our house."
"I didn't say that. You must have remembered it wrong!" Nancy denied shamelessly. She stared at the porcelain in Jack's hand. It was thirty million dollars! If she got it, she would make a fortune.
Emily still wanted to argue, but was stopped by Jack. He had planned to give it to her, but now she could have it if she wanted.
Just as he was about to hand over the porcelain, a figure suddenly rushed out from the side and attacked Emily.
Jack frowned, stepping in front of Emily to block the oncoming assault.
"Bang!" With a dull sound, an old man in a long robe appeared in front of them. His face was very thin, and his vicious eyes were fixed on Jack.
"If you don't want to be killed, get out of here. Otherwise, don't blame me for hurting innocent people!" The old man glanced at Emily and Nancy as he spoke coldly.
Nancy was so frightened that her body trembled. She quickly took the porcelain and pulled Emily away.
"Jack!" Emily screamed and tried to break free, but her parents dragged her into the car and drove her away.
"Mom, put me down. He may be in danger!" Emily shouted.
"Shut up!" Nancy looked resentful. "It's good that he's dead. You should take the opportunity to cut off all ties with him!"
"Mom, you just took his porcelain. How could you say something like that?" Emily widened her eyes in disbelief.
"Nonsense, this is mine!" Nancy shouted with a ferocious face. Then she said to Frank, who was driving the car, "Frank, let's go. Don't get involved." Frank nodded, stepped on the accelerator, and drove away quickly.
"Humph, you bastard, it's sad that you were abandoned by them!" The old man slowly walked to Jack and sneered.
Jack didn't say anything. The Fosters wouldn't be of much help if they stayed. Instead, he had to divert his attention to take care of them. More importantly, he didn't want Emily to see him kill anyone!
"Kid, get ready to go to hell!" The old man launched another attack, and he attacked even more fiercely!
Jack continued to throw punches at the old man's fists, but at the moment of contact, a sharp dagger suddenly shot out from the old man's wrist.
Jack grabbed the old man's wrist with one hand, forcefully grabbed the dagger with the other, and stabbed it into the his heart!
The old man's eyes widened in disbelief. His body twitched a few times before he collapsed lifelessly.
