Chapter 58

Jack's killing intent was palpable. Even though Drake was a general who had killed countless enemies, he couldn't help but feel a twinge of fear. He lowered his head and said. "Previously, Edward exchanged Cindy's secret for the lives of the Steele family members and promised to be executed to atone for his sins to your parents. But in reality, he only found a substitute to take the execution for him. He escaped Wyndcrest that night." "Good! Good for the Steele family, good for Edward!" Jack gritted his teeth, his voice cold. "Where is he now?" The grudge against his parents had never left his mind. Now that Edward was still alive, the matter was far from settled. "Now, Edward is back in Wyndcrest." Drake said solemnly. "His previous escape was actually to find his third son, Jerry Steele, who was once your third uncle." "Jerry?" Jack thought for a moment and immediately understood Edward's old foxlike plan. Edward had four sons, named Henry, Robert, Jerry, and Spike. Among them, the third son, Jerry, had always admired and liked the gang underworld from a young age, which Edward did not approve of. Later, Jerry left the Steele family to develop in another city, where he reportedly thrived in the gang world. Now that he's returned, he's probably here for revenge! "Then let's end this once and for all!" Jack said coldly. He drove away from the Destroy Steele Group headquarters and headed towards the Eastwoods Hotel. However, halfway there, two jeeps blocked his path. Seven or eight fierce-looking, arrogant men surrounded Jack's car. One of them even started banging heavily on the car's hood with a stick. "Kid, get out of the car!" Jack's expression darkened as he got out of the car. "Who are you?" he asked coldly. "Haha, have you heard of Master Jerry from Syscrest?" The leader of the group pointed a long stick at Jack's head. "Jerry?" Jack confirmed. "How dare you mention Master Jerry's name, you piece of trash?" The gang leader roared angrily. "Guys, let's take him down!" With the order given, the seven or eight thugs swung their sticks and blades at Jack. Jack remained calm and unmoving, like a mountain. The thugs, however, laughed internally, thinking, 'This trash is so scared he doesn't even have the courage to run away. ' But at that moment, Jack suddenly looked up! "Boom!" Instantly, a terrifying aura erupted from him. Several of the thugs felt their hearts stop beating. "What… what happened?" The thug leader shouted, and then "thud." he fell to the ground. He saw Jack's eyes glowing with a crimson light, and for a moment, he seemed to be in a hellish world filled with blood, trapped in a nightmarish vision of hell. "Ah!!" Finally, the leader let out a heart-wrenching scream, becoming delirious. The other thugs also clutched their heads, crying out in horror. Jack got back into his car and left without looking back. If Jerry wanted to give him a warning, he would respond in kind. When he arrived at the Eastwoods Hotel, the receptionist handed him a phone with a video call coming in. After answering, Jack saw a familiar face on the screen. It was Henry! Behind him were his fourth uncle, Spike, and Jerry. However, Jerry now exuded a fierce aura, like a madman. "Jack, didn't expect us to come back, did you?!" Henry's face twisted with hatred upon seeing Jack. "Shut up, fool. You're not qualified to talk to me." Jack said calmly. Hearing this, Henry's face turned red with anger. At this point, Jerry spoke up. "Brother, let me talk to him." Although he called Henry "Brother," his tone carried no respect. Henry promptly held the phone and pointed the camera at Jerry. "Jack, I knew back then you were no good, and I didn't expect you to live up to that expectation." Jerry said with a fierce look and a cold smile. "Are you done?" Jack's tone remained flat. "If you're done, get out of the way and call that filthy cur Edward to come out and see me!" Jack roared. Jerry was immediately enraged. "Jack, you are so disrespectful to your elders, calling your grandfather a cur? You little bastard, wait for our revenge!" Jerry quickly ended the video call. But Jack didn't plan to end things so simply. He immediately called Drake. "Drake, find out where they are." "Sir, their location has been identified." Drake said. "They are currently in the West Building." "Got it. I'm on my way." After hanging up, Jack drove straight to the West Building. "Stop! No outsiders allowed!" As soon as Jack parked and tried to enter the building, he was stopped by the security guards. "Who are you, and what are you here for?" The guard looked Jack up and down with disdain. West Building was an office building under the Carter family's name. The people who came here were all dressed in formal attire, and Jack, dressed in ordinary clothes and without a badge, obviously didn't seem like a staff member. "I'm here to find someone," Jack said calmly. "Find someone?" The guard sneered, clearly skeptical. "Well then, have the person you're looking for come down and meet you. Otherwise, you're not getting in." Hearing this, Jack frowned. He hadn't expected it to be so troublesome to get into the West Building. The guard was too snobbish. He was about to call Drake for help when a surprised voice suddenly called out. "Are you… Jack?" Jack turned to see a beautiful woman in office attire, but he didn't immediately recognize her. The woman, looking surprised, said, "It really is you. What have you been up to all these years?" Seeing Jack's lack of reaction, the woman awkwardly added, "I'm your college classmate, Rona Ann. Do you remember me?" "Oh, I remember now," Jack nodded. Back then, Rona was in the same class as him. They were in the same club, and many people thought they were a perfect match. However, Rona believed that Jack, being a foster child of the Steele family, had no standing in the family and wasn't worthy of her. But after Jack founded Jack Group, she regretted it. At the graduation ceremony, she mustered up the courage to confess her feelings to Jack, confident that no man could refuse her given her looks and status. However, Jack rejected her without hesitation in front of everyone! This made her the laughingstock of the crowd, and she hated Jack for it. She never had a chance to get revenge, and then Jack suddenly left Wyndcrest. Eight years had passed, and unexpectedly, they were reunited under these circumstances. "Jack, are you here looking for a job?" Rona said, crossing her arms and looking proud. As she recalled the past, hatred surged up again. "Yes, can you let me in?" Jack just wanted to get inside; he didn't care about the reasons. "Sure," Rona said with a sweet smile, pointing at her shoes. "But first, you'll need to come over and clean my shoes. If you do it well, I'll let you in." "What do you mean?" Jack frowned at her. "Didn't you get it? You, a fugitive from the Steele family, don't think you're some big shot, do you? Do you even deserve it?!" Rona sneered with contempt, looking at Jack. Finally, she had the chance to humiliate the person who once embarrassed her. Nearby, people entering and leaving the building noticed the commotion and gathered to watch. "Hey, did you hear that? I told you to come over and clean my shoes!" Seeing Jack's lack of movement, Rona urged again, spitting on her shoes. She held her head high, proud like a swan, believing that Jack would definitely come to beg her. In her view, Jack must have lived in misery after fleeing Wyndcrest, and after the Steele family was destroyed recently, this guy must have returned seeking work to support himself. No matter what, he would kneel down and clean her shoes! However, Jack ignored her. He took out his phone, preparing to have Drake find a way to get him in. Rona, seeing Jack's disregard, was furious. "How dare you ignore me?!" She stormed forward, raising her hand to slap Jack. "Slap!" However, before her hand hit Jack, she was slapped first and fell to the ground.
