Chapter 67

902 Words
Emily was infuriated and about to leave when the door of the private room was suddenly pushed open. A man with an arrogant expression walked in. "Sorry for the delay, there was some traffic. Thank you for waiting," the man said apologetically, though his demeanor suggested that making everyone wait was actually an honor. "Oh, Bocoy is here! Please, sit down, sit down!" Gabord immediately put on a flattering smile, personally pulling out Bocoy's chair. Bocoy sat down and boasted, "I've been extremely busy with a big project these days. The company has been pressuring me to hold meetings. It's been hectic. But thankfully, the project is complete now, and it should earn around a hundred thousand or so." The room erupted in surprise. Earning over a hundred thousand from a single project was more than many people made in a year! Seeing the envious looks from the relatives, Yuri felt very pleased, her vanity satisfied. She glanced at Emily and sneered, "Emily, I forgot to ask, how much does your boyfriend earn a month? With someone like him, a r****t, he probably has trouble finding a job, huh? Hahaha!" As soon as Yuri said this, laughter erupted in the room. Nancy couldn't help but scold, "What nonsense are you talking about? My son-in-law is not as useless as you think. He even drove a Lincoln Emperor back a while ago!" "Lincoln Emperor?" The crowd fell silent, clearly unfamiliar with the car. Bocoy snorted disdainfully, "The Lincoln Emperor you're talking about, is it the one that was discussed online a few days ago, parked outside a club?" "That's the one!" Nancy said proudly. "That car has already been proven to be fake all over the internet. Didn't you know?" Bocoy said mockingly. "What did you say?" Nancy's voice was filled with shock. Bocoy sneered, "There are only three of these cars in the world, two abroad and one in the country. The domestic one is specifically for our esteemed General Steele. I'm curious where your son-in-law got the fourth Lincoln Emperor from?" "It..." Nancy was speechless, her mouth agape. The relatives burst into laughter, their gazes full of amusement as they focused on Nancy and Jack in the corner. "Jack, you're truly a disaster, trying to deceive me with a fake car!" Nancy roared in anger, turning to berate Jack. Jack remained silent, seemingly tacitly acknowledging the accusation. This only infuriated Nancy more. If it weren't for the relatives being present, she would have gone over to teach this damned fool a lesson! At this moment, Bocoy said, "Since everyone is here, let's start ordering. Tonight's meal is on me, so order whatever you want." Upon hearing this, everyone praised Yuri for finding a wealthy man. Some even mocked Emily, saying she had picked a fraud and a r****t. Emily ignored the harsh comments and looked apologetically at Jack. Although she knew these relatives were terrible, she hadn't anticipated their level of nastiness. If she had known, she wouldn't have brought Jack along. Jack, however, wasn't affected by the remarks. After all, why should he care about the opinions of a bunch of rodents? If he were truly annoyed, he could simply step on them. Soon, they ordered a huge amount of dishes, including two or three bottles of red wine. The bill quickly amounted to thirty or forty thousand. Bocoy winced at the sight of the bill, but Yuri continued to demand, "Order two more bottles of red wine! Bocoy is very wealthy; he doesn't care about this small amount of money!" Bocoy's smile was very forced; this was a significant expense for him. He also realized that Emily, in terms of figure, appearance, and emotional intelligence, was far superior to Yuri, who was nothing but a piece of trash. 'Maybe changing to a new girlfriend wouldn't be so bad!' Bocoy looked at Emily and said, "Emily, your brother-in-law didn't mean to expose your boyfriend's lies. Please don't take it personally." Emily was surprised by Bocoy's offer of a toast. Although she was unwilling, she raised her glass and said, "It's fine, Jack won't mind." Bocoy continued, "But as your brother-in-law, I have to give you some life advice. Marrying a fraud and a r****t is obviously not a wise choice." "Marrying? I'll make this useless man leave right now!" Nancy interrupted angrily. Hearing this, Bocoy smiled slightly and said, "Emily, take my advice and break up with him soon. I have many excellent resources around me; I'm sure you'll find someone you like. By the way, aren't you in real estate? The project I'm handling is related to the Northriver slum redevelopment." Northriver slum redevelopment? Emily frowned, feeling speechless. So Bocoy was just involved in a project she was in charge of and thought he could act so arrogantly. "Emily, if you break up with your boyfriend, I'll introduce you to the project leader over there," Bocoy said with a smug expression. "No need, I'm not interested," Emily replied irritably. If it weren't for the relatives, she would have already left with Jack. Now, Bocoy wanted her to break up with Jack—it was simply too much! Suddenly, Yuri slammed the table and said coldly, "Hmph, Emily, what's with your attitude! Bocoy is kindly introducing you to important people, so why are you taking your frustration out on him? Apologize immediately, or get out of here. You're not welcome!"
