13th February
Autumn had met Connor at the bridge the whole walk to school was quiet. “You okay babe? You’re quiet.”
“I’m fine Con.” She lied, how could she tell him her shrink was blackmailing her to meet him so he’d keep her secret about who had caused the damage to her eyesight and who had thrown the snowball that had caused it?
“Are you sure?” He questioned her.
“I’m fine, just drop it Con let’s just get into school.”
“Sure.”
He dropped his arm over her shoulder as they walked towards school he gave his friends a warning look not to piss her off let’s hope they took the hint.
They all said their goodbyes going to registration she could barely concentrate on anything right now and Stenton was making it worse. “Hey Red.”
“Stenton.”
“Boy, you look rough.”
“I’m fine.”
“You sure Red? You look like you haven’t slept a wink.”
“I’m fine.” She gritted out. Why couldn’t no one take the hint and leave her the f**k alone?
“Gee Red, you get out the wrong side of the bed?”
“Something like that.”
Ten minutes later. “You okay Red?”
“I’m fine.” She snapped.
This went on all lesson till it was finally over and she could get rid of him.
The rest of the day didn’t get much better as Daniel also noticed her demeanour had changed and had shifted to god awful and unbearable. “You okay Red?”
“I’m fine.”
“You sure?”
“Yes, I am!” She snapped.
Well f**k.
It went the on until school was over and boy was everyone glad to leave her and Connor. They all felt sorry for him, leaving him with a very angry Autumn was not appealing to any of them right now it had only happened a few times and they had learnt their lesson to keep their traps shut and let her come out of it but this time she hadn’t.
“What’s wrong babe? You’ve been in this god awful loos all day.”
“Nothing, I’m fine.”
“I’m here babe whenever you need to talk okay.”
“Okay.”
He kissed her cheek. “I’ll see you tomorrow babe, hopefully you’ll be in a better mood.”
Let’s hope so.
Connor walked away having no clue why she was scoring like she was. And she couldn’t tell him the real reason either.
14th February
Valentines Day
Connor and Daniel met Autumn by the bridge, this was one of those days that she was not looking forward to, another day that left a hole in your pocket that’s if it aloud you too. It only reminded her of Taylor and how he made every minute end of that day worth it if they’d had two valentines days together and she’d cherished both of them.
It was the only day his friends were not allowed to interfere and they had to spend it with their girls. The only day in the year she felt truly loved and cherished by him, the only day he spoilt her endlessly and promised things would change and he loved her to the moon and back, but those memories were short-lived like da ja vous.
Once the day was over all went back to how it had been once the perfect day was over, the once perfect Taylor was back to being the asshole Taylor she knew.
“You okay babe?”
“Yeah, I just don’t like this day.”
“Why all girls like this day and the mushy s**t that comes with it.”
“Not me. It just reminds me how romantic a guy can be and changes at a slip of the tongue a click of the fingers and that once was romantic about that day is suddenly killed by the asshole they truly are.”
“God, you’re such a buzz kill, Red.”
“I try my best.” She said, sarcastically, pulling a face.
They both laughed as they entered the school.
“Hey, guys look like the school has gone over the board again.”
“Looks that way.”
They looked around the hearts dangling from the trees could this day get any worse?
They entered the school after the bell sounded. Yup, it just got worse.
Everyone frantically pushed forward wanting to see if they’d got cards from a secret admirer.
Heart balloons appeared from nowhere. f**k she hated this f*****g day and it was all thanks to Taylor.
“Come on, let’s get to registration.”
She nodded, god she hoped nothing was going to happen today she just wanted this day to end. They all sat down Connor and Daniel looked at the pile of cards on their desks and groaned.
The same s**t, different year they could only guess who they were from the sluts of the school god damn it they just wished they’d get the hint and leave them the f**k alone.
They all pulled, themselves up on the second bell and both Connor and Daniel threw the cards in the trash. “Why did you do that? I thought you liked this kind of thing?”
“We know who they’re from Red, we’re not interested.”
She looked at Con. “If there’s not one from you I don’t want one. And now knowing you don’t believe in today I’d rather not have anything at all as long as you are by my side.’
She nodded as he put his arm around her pulling her to him.
”You’re such a sap, Con.”
“Like I give a fuck.” He leaned forward, talking into her ear. “We can do something together after school okay?”
She nodded.
He smiled and they walked down the corridor to their lessons saying goodbye.
Autumn walked into her lesson where was Stenton?
Two cards lay on the desk f*****g great Con Knew she wasn’t interested so did Dan so what the hell?
She sat down. “Don’t read it yet, Red.”
She looked down at a flustered Stenton. “Get the f**k up Stenton it's embarrassing.” She said, slightly angered.
He pulled out the rose. ‘For a most stunning girl.’
”Get up.” She gritted.
”You’re one in a million Red. Please take this rose and cherish it. You have my heart and my soul please down rip it apart keep the rose and card.”
“I’ll keep them, now will you please get up?”
He nodded.
“Now get now get up you’re making a scene everyone’s watching.”
“I don’t care Red, you’ve taken my heart like many others.” He said, pulling himself up and passing her the rose.
She grumbled. “I can’t believe I’m doing this.” She looked at him. “Thanks.”
“Anything for you Angel my Red.”
“Shut up Stenton, we all know you’re a Casanova.”
“Only for you, my sweet Red.”
‘This s**t has gone to your f*****g head.”
“You the only one in my head Red.”
“Urgh. Do you have an answer for everything?”
“Literally.”
“God. Help me!”
“He can’t help you.” Stanton said, sarcastically.
“Right class, settle down.”
Thank f**k.
The lessons dragged. “By the way, Red the rose isn’t real so you have no choice in keeping it cause it will never die like the love I have for you.”
Urgh.
Connor slipped his arm around her kissing her cheek. “You okay babe?”
“I guess.”
“You don’t sound it. Do you have any cards?”
“Two.”
“Off who.”
“One I have no idea, two Stenton, he’s acting weird and creepy.”
“He always does today for some strange reason, ignore him babe it will be someone else next year.”
“I hope so.”
After break and lunch, Autumn sat down waiting for Daniel he and Connor were in discussing something they were both going to be late for a lesson. So far she’d had five cards the guys had all sent her one the last one lay on the desk she picked it up and read it. “Don’t forget Saturday, my love. I’ll be waiting for you at one pm by the lake so you best not be late, or I will come looking for you you’re secret admirer x”
This card was of no secret admirer she knew who it was off Mathew Harding. She quickly shoved it into her bag, should she tell Connor he was blackmailing her?
“Sorry Red, business.”
She nodded luckily the tutor hadn’t shown up yet or he’d be in deep s**t. “You okay Red ,you look distracted?”
Should I tell him? f**k no lie.
“I’m fine.”
“Hold your hand out.”
“What?”
“Hold your hand out, Red.”
She held her hand out. He dropped the necklace into it. “I know you don’t give much for this day and think it’s sappy, so this I think will mean more to you than a stupid card or a bunch o flowers or chocolates.”
27thFebruary - 3rd March
The weather had got worse over the past few days and Connor was forced to stay at autumn’s as they couldn’t open the front door when he had decided to finally go home. Now the snow was easing up he had decided to return home luckily he had his tee shirt and goggles stuffed in his bag or he would’ve been screwed. He’d thanked them for letting him stay and had kissed Autumn non the cheek telling her once the school was re-opened he would come to call for her. She nodded before saying goodbye. He smiled walking away.she closed the door behind her she was glad he had stayed or she would’ve been board out of her mind over the past three days.
4th March - 8th March
Everyone was still off school due to the constant fall of snow they were all getting restless but now it was fried at the snow was slowly clearing and was melting after the down our of rain Mathew had managed to contact autumn though she had no idea where he had obtained her mobile nimbler from and was too scared to ask cause if he had done what she thought he had done he’d be in a whole world of s**t and escorted off the premises cause it was against the law to have any contact with students outside school. He’d assured her that it wasn’t illegal he’d just dialled for assistance and they’d given him her number. She hadn’t quiet believed him but what could she do?
