29th March Connor stood waiting on the bridge for Autumn, wearing his baggy attire. His watch said 10:15, where the hell was she? Had she stood him up? For the first time in eight months. Her boots clanked heavily as she approached him. She padded over to him. "I'm sorry I am so late Con, mom kept constantly reminding me to be back by four." "Sure, no problem. We'll walk around town and have lunch, then we'll sit by the lake until you have to head home." "Okay." He took her hand in his and they walked away from the lake heading towards town. They looked around her shops and sat in the cafe for lunch before they headed back to the lake. They sat down by the lake, the air around them was brisk and the wind was whistling through the spring leaves. "So, how long will it take you to get to your relatives?" "Not too long. A few hours tops. We should be there by six just in time for supper. And three days of boredom." "I'm sure it's not that bad." "Worse." She admitted. "At least you see your family. I hardly ever see mine." "How come?" "Bad subject babe." "Oh. Okay." "Family feud." She looked at him, she knew how that felt all too well. She only got to see her mother's side of the family, not her fathers, not that she cared anyway. "You okay babe?" "Yeah, fine." She sighed. He leaned forward. "I'll miss one thing for three whole days." "What?" "This." He pressed his lips on hers, kissing her hungrily. He moved away. "I wish you didn't have tk go." "Me too." He hugged her tightly. "I guess I'll see you when you get back." "You will." "Come on. I'll walk you home before your mom sends out a search party." "Is it that time already?" "It is babe, unfortunately. " They pulled themselves up and he took her hand before they headed back He pulled her in for another hug. "I'll see you when you get back babe." "Okay." He pulled out of the hug and softly kissed her forehead. "see you when you get back babe." "You will." He walked away as she closed the door behind her. "I know you don't want to do this Autumn, but you know your aunt." "Yeah." She sighed. She'd rather be anywhere but there. She'd rather be here with Connor and thf others. At least Connor understood her, unlike her Aunt Clarabell, a plumpish lady with no dress sense whatsoever. Autumn placed her mobile on her bedside cabinet after talking to Connor. Their conversation was brief, but freshening. She missed him a lot already. He missed her. He couldn't wait until she came back home. She scanned the four plain boring walls of the guest room wishing she was at home and with her friends and nor here as she slowly closed her eyes letting sleep take over. 3rd April Connor met Autumn on the bridge, he smoked as she approached him he had missed her the three days that she had been away, though they had spoken over the phone he was glad to see her. He pressed his lips on hers kissing her passionately. He moved away. Looking at her. "I've only been away for three days, Con." "I know, but I still missed you." "I missed you too." "So, how was it?" "Okay. I guess." "Do you want to talk about it?" "Maybe later. " "Sure, after we've gone to the skate park. You've given your blades haven't you?" "Yeah, but I haven't used them in a while. I might be a bit rusty." "It's okay babe. I'll be there and so will the guys." "That's what I'm afraid of. " "They won't laugh babe. They're crap at it " He smiled. She looked at him curiously. "It's cool babe, the guys are always falling over and crashing into everything. If you fall, just get back up okay?" "Okay." He dropped his arm over her shoulders. "So are you ready to go?" "Yeah." "Good." They walked away from the lake, cutting through the park and headed through the town centre heading to the skating park which has many ramps and rails with loud music playing. Daniel looked up and smiled, calling them over. "There they are." Connor pointed them out to Autumn. She swallowed and they made their way over to their friends. "So, how was your trip, Autumn? Con said you were visiting relatives. " "Okay." "Con never stopped banging on about you." Connor shot his friend a death glare." "He couldn't wait for you to come back." "Me neither." "That bad hugh?" "Yeah." "So, are you going to join us at the skatepark?" "I'll sit out for a while." "How come?" "She's a little rusty, guys." "Oh." "I'll watch for a while, so I can figure the place out." "Sure." Connor kissed her softly. "We'll do a few laps then I'll come back for you okay?" "Okay." They all put their blades on. And went out onto the park, she watched them using her ramps and rails. She just hoped she would remember how. His shadow overcast hers. "Why aren't you out there, Autumn?" 'I don't think I can." "Sure you can. You were the best at this. Better than me." She looked up. "Taylor." He smiled, his perfect white teeth shining in the sun's rays. "Go on, Autumn." "I can't." "I watched you Autumn, there was nothing you couldn't do, go on. You're the best go." He'd gone. She slipped out of her trainers and into her blades, tying them. She pulled herself up, putting her safety gear on and skated over to the park. She scooped it out before gathering her speed, hitting the ramps and rails. Jumping, pulling her knees up and somersaulting in mid air landing perfectly. Her friends stood with their mouths agape watching her as she flipped then took to the rail. Jumping off. She landed perfectly on her blades, she's still got it after all this time Her friends skated over to her. Looking amazed, still. "I thought you said you were rusty?" "I thought I was. I haven't done this for a while." "Where did you learn those moves?" "Practice." "Maybe we should go ice skating." Connor looked over at her and saw a glint in her eyes. "Come on, lets get some grub." Harry said, feeling the tension. "Come on babe." Connor said. They all say done taking their rollerblades off and putting their trainers on before heading away from the skate park to get some food. They all decided on burgers and shakes from the dinner in town. "So are we going ice skating?" "Tomorrow. " "We'll see Jae." "Autumn?" "I guess." "Are you guys sure? I mean you alm broke your legs last time." "Yeah. We want to see if Autumn can skate on ice as well as blades." "Bu.." "So, are we all in?" "We are " "Con?" "I guess." He mumbled. "Great. We'll meet around eleven. Okay?" "Okay." "We'll see you then okay, we'll meet by the park and get a bus into the city." "Sure." "See you later Con, Dan, Autumn." "Later guys." They all walked away. Connor looked concerned at Autumn. "Are you sure about tomorrow babe? It ain't as easy as it looks." "I am." "Well I best be going." "Sure Dan." "Later." "Later " "Later red." "Later Dan." Daniel walked away leaving Connor and Autumn alone for the first time in the last few hours. "We'll sit by the lake for a while okay?" "Sure." They walked to the lake and sat on one of the benches. He dropped his arm over the back of the bench. "So, where did you really learn to skate like that?" "My home town, everyone was into it. Practice, practice and more practice." "And your friends at your old school?" "I went skating with them and yes, they were impressed too. I won a few medals, but I don't boast about it." "So, it was our thing he never screwed up for you?" "One of two, yeah. " "Ice skating?" "Yeah. He used to watch me." "So, how good are you?" "You'll have to wait until tomorrow to see." "Are you a little rusty with that too?" 'A little, but they say once you get back on the ice you never forget." He nodded. "So, there's nothing you can't do?" "How many days have we got?" "Nine." "Guess you'll just have to wait and see." "Guess I will." He pressed his lips on hers, kissing her.
