Chapter 10 - Needing permission.

Redmoon was looking festive as the maids decorated for Christmas. Sandra had been coming around a lot and I tried hard to get along with her. We had been picking out stuff for the nursery as Charles and Alex requested. I was starting to get a visible bump now and everyone I walked by felt entitled to feel it. Sandra and I sat in the sitting room looking at swatches off colors. She was only barely showing, she could still hide it from people. That made me envious. “What do you think of blue curtains for the main room?” Sandra pushed the different fabrics around. “I don’t care.” I said. “Are you ok Julia?” She asked and I looked at her. “Just a little tired. I feel like I’m always tired.” I said and looked at her. “What magic do you specialize in?” I asked her curious. We’ve never talked about it. “Oh! Water mostly. What about you? Alex told me your magic was powerful and I’ve always meant to ask.” Sandra smiled. I wondered if Charles would get mad. “All.” I said and smiled at her. She started to laugh. “No really.” She said moving and holding a piece of green fabric to the light that came in from the window. I started to wonder how mad Charles would be. I started to giggle. Sandra looked at me. “What?” She looked confused. “Really. All magic.” She shook her head and looked away. “Ha ha. I don’t believe stuff very easily. I’m not gullible.” Sandra held up a gold fabric. Alex came in. “Afternoon ladies! Charles is tied up but he sends his love Julia.” He walked over and kissed Sandra. “Alex dear, you won’t believe what Julia told me.” She laughed. “What’s that?” He smiled at her. “She says she specializes in all magic. She’s trying to convince me she’s not lying.” Sandra saw his expression and stopped laughing. “Isn’t that something you should be discussing with your husband before you tell people that?” Alex looked at me. I shrugged. “She asked.” I said. “We’re friends so why hide it?” I said to him. “Wait is that really true?” Sandra looked confused. There was silence for a moment. “No it’s not.” Alex said smiling at Sandra. “It’s true isn’t it?” Sandra looked at me. I could see a little fear in her eyes. “No, I was joking with you.” I giggled and her expression softened. Alex laughed. “Very funny you two!” Alex smiled at Sandra. “I remember Charles asked me to pass a special message, come Julia.” I sighed and pushed myself up. We went out to the hall. “Im going to have to inform Charles of this.” Alex said. I rolled my eyes and started off toward the garden. “Everyone is so scared. Why am I even here.” I went out and Alex followed. “Luna it’s too cold to be out here.” Alex said. I looked at him and scoffed. A flick of my wrist and the snow melted. I hadn’t felt like myself lately. I wasn’t sure if it was the fact I was always comfortable now or how hard it was to sleep. I looked back and Alex was gone. I played with the snow for a bit. When I heard the door reopen I was fluttering the snow with my hands. I dropped it as I turned and saw Charles. He looked angry. “What now?” I turned back picking the snow back up. “A word inside please?” He said straining to sound calm. I dropped the snow and walked in. “What?” I asked dripping with annoyance. “Did you tell Sandra you specialized in all magic?” He asked. “Yes, she asked.” He looked surprised. “She asked if you could do all magic?” He was confused by my words. “She asked what I specialize in. I don’t have anything I’m better at then the other. She’s my friend so why not tell her? Alex knows.” I said to him. “Alex has a right to know! He’s the beta!” Charles was raising his voice. I could tell he was trying to calm down. “I don’t want to hide anymore. I spent my entire childhood hiding.” I said to him. “Because people were frightened. The last thing we need is for everyone to be scared of what you can do!” I glared at him. My anger was growing. He glared back. “This is a order from your husband! DON’T TELL ANYONE!” He yelled. I could feel the fire brewing up in me. “Calm down.” He said looking more concerned. Little sparks started to flash around us. “Julia! That’s enough!” I couldn’t hold back my anger and a hall table caught fire. I snapped back into reality. “D*mmit Julia.” Charles looked at the table that was burning. I sighed and washed it away. I started to walk off toward the bedroom. Charles followed me. “I don’t need the company.” I said and he stopped. “Fine, we’ll talk about this later.” He stood there as I walked down the hall to the bedroom. As I walked in Miranda jumped. She was in the middle of changing the bed and another was hanging Christmas decor. “Out!” I yelled and sat by the fire. They both dropped what they were doing and ran out. I was tired and annoyed. I watched the fire dance in the fire place. I was very over the hiding. My Luna duties were virtually non-existent. Charles was making it impossible to be happy here.
