Ceremony of Faith

818 Words
The night of the Crescent Moon Ceremony arrived with a sense of anticipation that crackled through the Moonfall Pack like electricity. Lanterns glowed along the forest paths, casting golden light over the clearing where the ritual would take place. Wolves of all ages gathered, their eyes reflecting the moonlight as whispers rippled across the crowd. Aria stood at the edge of the clearing, hidden in the shadows as she had been instructed by Liana. Her wolf instincts burned inside her chest, urging her forward. She had practiced controlling her shift in secret, but tonight, she was meant to remain invisible—ignored. Inside the clearing, preparations were meticulous. A raised stone platform held ceremonial bowls filled with herbs, moonstones, and water collected from the sacred river. Alpha Rowan , stood at the center, his commanding presence radiating over the crowd. Beside him, warriors and elders waited in solemn formation. Mira adjusted her gown nervously, casting glances at Kai Rowan, who had arrived earlier. Damon stood behind her, trying to look indifferent but failing. Both were eager to impress the Alpha’s son—or at least align themselves with someone powerful. Kai walked to the platform with calm authority, his storm-gray eyes scanning the gathering. When he reached the center, he paused, taking a deep breath. The whispers around him quieted. “This ceremony is for the wolves of our pack,” Alpha Rowan began, his voice deep and resonant. “Tonight, fated mates will be revealed, and those destined for greatness will be recognized.” Mira’s chest puffed with pride. She imagined herself stepping forward, chosen by Kai, her life elevated. Damon’s expression was smug; he had no interest in being part of the ritual but enjoyed watching his sister shine. And then it happened. Aria stepped out of the shadows, almost by accident. She hadn’t planned to enter, but her wolf instincts urged her forward. Her feet moved of their own accord, carrying her closer to the ceremonial platform. The crowd’s attention flickered. Whispers spread like wildfire. Kai froze. Not because Mira had arrived—he had expected that—but because of her. Aria. Even from a distance, he could see her glowing silver eyes, faintly illuminated in the moonlight. He sensed her power immediately—the silver wolf bloodline, rare and ancient. His heart skipped a beat as he took a cautious step toward her. The crowd gasped. Wolves murmured among themselves. No one had ever seen someone like her step forward at the ceremony. Liana’s face twisted with fury. “Aria! !l” she snarled But Aria did not move. She felt a pull toward Kai that she couldn’t explain, a force that seemed to draw her and him together, as though the world itself demanded it. Kai’s eyes locked onto hers, wide with recognition. His voice, low but firm, carried across the clearing: The murmurs turned to gasps as it was beginning to dawn on them what was happening. Mira’s hand flew to her mouth. Damon stepped forward, confused and angry. Liana’s voice rose in panic. “You cannot! She is nothing! She is not of the line!” But Kai ignored her. He took another step closer to Aria, his hand outstretched, as if shielding her from the weight of the crowd and the venom of her stepfamily. The moonlight struck Aria’s silver fur, and it shimmered brighter than ever, illuminating her presence like a beacon. Wolves whispered the old legends, speaking of the Moon’s child , a rare silver-blooded wolf destined for greatness. And suddenly, it was clear. Aria was no longer the orphan girl in the shadows. She was recognized, revered, and respected. Kai stepped forward fully, ignoring the shocked murmurs. “She’s Mine,” he declared, his voice unwavering. The clearing fell silent. Even Alpha Rowan’s eyes widened slightly. The pack had never witnessed such a proclamation made so boldly. Mira trembled with disbelief, her dreams of being chosen shattering. Damon’s jaw tightened, realizing he could not interfere. Liana’s fury boiled over. “You insolent child ! How dare you claim him! he is not yours!” “He can’t be!” Kai’s gaze did not waver. “I dare you to say that one more time!” He said to liana Aria’s pulse raced. Her silver wolf surged within her, responding to Kai’s presence. She felt strength coursing through her limbs, confidence she had never known. For the first time, she didn’t feel weak, invisible, or powerless. The crowd watched in awe as the connection between them became tangible, a bond illuminated under the light of the full moon. Even the elders murmured with reverence. For the first time in her life, Aria stood proudly, unafraid of her stepmother, unafraid of Mira, unafraid of Damon. She was no longer a girl in the shadows. She was the Silver Wolf, the Moon’s Daughter, and her destiny was only beginning.
