When I arrived at my small apartment, I could barely hold myself together. The tears I had held back for Aria's sake now flowed freely. The weight of everything- losing the job, being torn from Aria, and Archie's harsh words- crashed down on me all at once.
I dropped my bag on the floor and collapsed onto the couch, sobbing into the cushions. My mind replayed the confrontation at the school, Archie's furious face, and Aria's pleading eyes. My heart ached for Aria, for the bond we had formed and the comfort we found in each other.
I spent hours like that, curled up and crying until my tears ran dry. When I finally lifted my head, the room was dark, and the reality of my situation settled in. I was alone, cut off from the closest thing I had to a family in years.
