I turned on the volume of the car stereo to the highest as I drove through the city. The street lights reflecting on the dark clouds were therapeutic to watch.
It had been long since I drove out in the night. I always made sure I finished my day’s activities and was inside with my kids when the day became dark.
But I had to drive over to my mother’s house to pick up the kids. After numerous failed attempts to reach me, Alexander settled on dropping off the kids with my mother.
I knew she wouldn’t let me go off the hook easily because Alexander must have said some things to her when he dropped off the kids. Plus, I ended our conversation and I was certain she would want to continue from where she stopped.
