The heavy silence of the mansion was broken only by the sound of David’s expensive boots echoing against the marble floor. Marry stood near the exit, her heart hammering against her ribs like a trapped bird. She felt small, insignificant, and utterly destroyed.
She didn't look at the man who had just 'bought' her, but she forced her trembling lips to move.
"Wait... please," Marry whispered, her voice cracking. "I... I can't leave like this. There is something... something very important I need to take with me. Please, let me go back inside for just a moment."
Her eyes were fixed on the floor, avoiding David’s piercing gaze. David stood there, his hands tucked into his pockets, his shadow engulfing her. One of his guards stepped forward, ready to push her toward the car, but David raised a single finger. The guard froze instantly, bowing his head in submission. David’s eyes never left Marry’s pale face.
"You have five minutes," David’s voice was a low, dangerous velvet. "Don't make me come looking for you."
Marry turned and ran back into the house. She didn't see the way David’s eyes darkened as he watched her retreating figure.
Inside, the air was cold. Catherine was standing in the hallway, a glass of wine in her hand, looking like she had just won a war. When she saw Marry, her face twisted in disgust.
"What now?" Catherine hissed. "Didn't we told you already? Why are you back to pollute my air?"
Marry ignored her and rushed to her room. She grabbed the silver-framed photo of her mother. Clutching it to her chest, she broke down.
"Mom... look at me," Marry sobbed, the tears staining the glass of the frame. "They sold me, Mom. Your princess is being taken away by a monster. Where are you? Why did you leave me alone in this hell?"
She looked at her father’s portrait on the wall and let out a choked cry. "And you, Papa? You’re still alive, but you’re more dead to me than Mom. How could you let them do this? I’m your daughter, not a piece of debt!"
Suddenly, a hand grabbed her hair and jerked her head back. It was Catherine.
"Stop this pathetic whimpering!" Catherine roared, her breath smelling of bitter wine. "Do you think David William cares about your tears? If you keep him waiting, he will tear this house down! He is a ruthless animal, Marry. Now get out before he loses his patience!"
"I am just taking my mother’s photo! It’s all I have left!" Marry screamed through her tears, trying to pull away.
"You have nothing left!" Catherine snatched the frame from her hands. "In that world, you won't need memories. You only need to learn how to serve your master."
Siya walked in, looking at her nails. "Exactly. And don't worry, Marry. I’ll take good care of your fiancé and your room. You just focus on surviving the Mafia King."
"But... mom you say you'll come for me, right?" Marry asked with a flicker of desperate hope. "once you arenge money you come and you'll pay him back and bring me home? Tell me you will!"
Catherine and Siya shared a mocking laugh. "Sure, sweetheart. We'll call you," Catherine lied, her eyes gleaming with malice. "Now, give me this trash!"
"No! Please! It’s my mother! Don't take her from me!" Marry begged, reaching for the frame.
"I said NO!" Catherine screamed, and with all her might, she threw the frame across the room.
Marry’s world stopped. She watched the frame fly, her heart stopping in her chest. But just before the glass hit the marble, a large, black-gloved hand caught it in mid-air.
The room went deathly silent. David William stood at the doorway, his presence so massive that the walls seemed to shrink. He looked like death itself had walked into the room. He didn't look at Catherine or Siya; his eyes were locked on Marry, who was trembling on the floor.
David looked at the photo in his hand, then his gaze moved to Catherine. He didn't say a word, but the cold, murderous aura radiating from him made Catherine stumble back, her wine glass shattering on the floor.
"My time," David started, his voice a low, terrifying vibration, "is worth millions. And you just wasted ten minutes of it."
He stepped toward Marry. He didn't offer her a hand. Instead, he gripped her upper arm with a strength that made Marry gasp. His fingers dug deep into her skin, marking her as his.
"From now on," David whispered, leaning close to her ear, his voice sending a chill down her spine, "your past is dead. This photo... and you... both belong to me now."
He dragged her out of the room. Marry’s small feet struggled to keep up with his long, powerful strides. She looked back one last time, seeing Siya and Catherine standing there with triumphant smiles, and Kai standing behind them, not even meeting her eyes.
As Marry stepped out of the mansion, a sudden surge of electricity failed, and the entire house was plunged into pitch-black darkness. It was as if the soul of the house had died the moment she left.
High above, from a dark window, her father watched his daughter being shoved into the black SUV. He closed his eyes, the weight of his greed finally crushing his heart, but he didn't call her back.
Outside, the rain began to fall, masking Marry’s tears. David opened the car door and practically threw her inside. The smell of expensive cologne and cigar smoke filled her senses.
"Sit," David commanded as he sat beside her, his aura filling the entire car. "And don't you dare shed another tear for people who sold you for a handful of silver."
The car roared to life, and as the gates of the mansion disappeared in the distance, Marry knew her life was over. She was now in the cage of a Beast.

so ,
The darkness has finally claimed Marry. My heart broke writing the scene where her own family turned their backs on her. But now that she’s in David’s world, things are about to get much more intense!
What do you think of David’s 'rescue' of the photo? Is he a savior or just a different kind of monster? Drop your thoughts in the comments, and please add this story to your Library if you’re enjoying the ride!"✨🤌🌸
