Chapter 13: The Queen

"Respect should be earned, Lazarus... And if you don't deserve it... then you shouldn't have it," I sneered at him. God, this is making me nervous. I tried to be brave and tell him that, but his stares were making my knees melt. Amusement swiftly crossed his eyes. I thought he is going to slap me or whatever, but his grip on my waist just grew tighter. I don't know what is he even thinking because he is smirking! "To earn respect," he then laughed in confusion. "I think that is only applicable to a common people, Genevierre. I am the prince of Amadeo for a century already—" I held his cold hand and pushed it away from me. "The way you treat me shows that you don't deserve any of my respect." Lazarus laughed in disbelief. "You are saying and acting unbelievably since you woke up, Genevierre." I glared at him. That's because I am not her Genevierre! "I hit my head. Maybe that's why I am acting different," I reasoned out. "So please, if you can go now, leave my room." Lazarus let out a chuckle again. The tone of his laugh was saying that he feels insulted. "I just wanted to say about our deal earlier. I am just curious why you let me have my other wife?" I looked at him in disbelief. Is this the reason why he came to my room? To make me remember our deal? He is unbelievable. I just shrugged. I don't care about him and what is he going to do. If he wants more wives—then I should let him do it. But obviously, I cannot say that to him because it will sound weird and not very Genevierre. I guess Genevierre shows how much he adores Lazarus... That's why he finds my agreement suspicious. "Isn't that what you always wanted?" I thought of a very general and safe line to fire at him. "I am letting you do what you want already. Don't you like it?" Lazarus stares at me firmly. He looks like observing my thoughts and weighing if I am telling the truth. "Well, at least you are aware of that decision. I hope the Aristocrats will not be mad—" My eyes widened at what he mentioned. Oh god. The group of Aristocrats! I snatched Lazarus' shoulder and looked at him, begging is evident in my eyes. "Lazarus, do the Aristocrats don't want you to have another wife or girl in the castle?" I asked him, pleading. How did I fvcking forget the Aristocrats about this matter!? Oh my god! I want to cry already! I am hoping Lazarus to say no... "Yes, the Aristocrats wanted one princess." He nods his head, also confused. "Don't tell me that you also forget about that?" I nod my head in shock. "Y-Yes... I did forget! What will I do now?!" I asked, alarmed. "But you already signed an agreement with me," he evilly smiled. "The Aristocrats said that I can have another princess and so if you let me. Now that you agree... Well, I want to thank you." I shook my head in disbelief. Then I am dead to the Aristocrats! I hugged Lazarus' arm and almost begged on my knees. "Let's cancel the agreement," I murmured. I show him my sweetest smile. Lazarus looked at me with confusion. He just laughs and pulls his arm away from me! "You're a princess. You should stand in your choice," he said with authority. I snorted. "I am a princess who is not thinking because I just came from an accident! Come on, you should at least consider!" I begged. He didn't talk. Lazarus just shook his head and look at me like a peasant. "Fool," he said and grinned. Before I even talk, he started to walk away from me! "Lazarus!" I called him, but he didn't bother to look back. He just left me nervous because of the Aristocrats! God, I didn't... see that rule! I know a little! I thought I already know everything about her! That encounter drained me. The ladies entered immediately when they saw Lazarus leaving. I am disoriented and have too little will to move. That long day ended heavily. Argh. How can I face tomorrow with this problem?! I wanna go back... The sun already greeted the whole kingdom, but I cannot sleep! I am thinking of convincing Lazarus to stop the contract! "Princess!" The ladies were worried when they saw me. I looked at them, confused. "What?" "What happened to your eyes?!" Gloria wailed. I didn't get a simple sleep at all. I am just thinking hard about what to do. Should I just act dumb? Fool? Stupid? Didn't remember anything? Or convince Lazarus? Acting dumb is easy but I don't want someone to be hurt because of my actions! "Genevierre!" I didn't expect that someone will throw me to bed because of a hug! "I heard what happened to you! I am so sorry for getting late! There is a problem with my Kingdom and I have a son who is acting crazy!" A woman is currently hugging me. She is wearing a ball gown that is colored in green and has a detail that is made of gold. Who is this? She pull herself away from the hug and looked at me in disbelief. "Why did you do that, Genevierre? You could have just told me!" A beautiful woman is crying in front of me. Her beauty is ethereal. A white blonde girl with seductive beauty! Even she is crying—her gorgeousness couldn't be denied! Who is she? Another vampire? I guess she is close with Genevierre! From the sound of it, she looked worried about what happened. "Hey, talk!" She said, annoyed. "Queen Elena," the court ladies called her. A queen?! Queen Elena?! "Yes?" She immediately answered, but didn't remove her glance at me. She hold my face and scan it from left to right. She looks like inspecting my face for scratches. "There is something wrong with you but I cannot point it out..." "The princess didn't get enough sleep, Queen." "Oh!" She shrieked. Who is this Queen? "I thought there is something different from you—it was your eyes then!" She nodded.
