Chapter 31: First time

"Why would I bring that person and waste my time into him?" Lazarus asked in confusion. My mouth opened in disbelief–and so as the other. Nothing's wrong with his question, but the way he asked his father? "Didn't you hear what they said, son?" The King asked calmly. Being with this guy really needs a lot of patience and work. But he shouldn't use that tone to the King! I am not from the castle but he sounds so hostile! "Do you think that person will be a threaten to the kingdom? Just because he is spreading information?" He asked again then laugh. "I mean what is wrong with that? He is giving knowledge to people..." "Giving knowledge to people?" The old man hissed. "That person is trying to ruin the name of the castle and royal family—" "Oh, do you mean the Aristocrats?" Lazarus laughed. "I didn't heard anything about my royal family. But I hear alot of things from your group." "Lazarus!" The king's voice thundered all over the room. It was my reflex that kick in—I immediately attend to Lazarus and shook my head on him. He should stop or else... "I see, prince Lazarus. I guess you heard a lot, huh?" The old man sound like he is telling something. Lazarus gritted his teeth–but before he can give his answer, I hold his arms. "Let's... just find that person, prince Lazarus." Lazarus scoffed without breaking his eye contact with the leader of Aristocrats. "Of course. I know a lot because I listen to people. I guess you are not doing your job as the leaders of humans. Try to get back in the land and serve your people. You cannot even get your story straight because you are too busy living just with the title." Should I just walk away? I don't want to get in danger. The old man can be scary once he is mad. But he cannot just show it because he is in front of the king. I pull my hand back to runaway. Since I cannot stop Lazarus—I should stop from here. But my eyes widened when he pull my hand to him and held me tight. Oh no, you are not going to make me stay here! "That is not true. We are doing our job. How dare you accuse us like that?" "Stop," the king entered and shook his head. "This isn't the right time to talk about that. Lazarus, I said find that man. And Aristocrats—please do something about the princess case. Fix it." They oblige while I am still scared of their next actions. Glad the meeting just ended up with few death glares. Lazarus and I are walking down back to our rooms. He seems angry and frustrated with the meeting. "Why do you look disappointed?" I asked him. "Because you will waste your time with someone who is not worthy of your time?" I think that is some of his good reason why is he so mad. But I am quite disappointed when I heard that knowledge and information aren't free here—in short, education is not available to the poor. What a cruel kingdom. The King should change his ways.. "No, I am mad because they are stopping a person who wanted nothing but to teach." Oh. That was his reason? I didn't expected that. "Do you want to breathe some fresh air?" Lazarus offered. My eyebrows went up—but i just nodded. After all, I am not yet sleepy. "I really hate humans like you," he hissed when we get to the huge balcony of the castle. I was amaze for a second—but my smile fade when he said that. What is his problem? "What did we I do now?" "Humans are selfish," he added. "What's wrong with education? That will be a huge advantage of the castle," he get back through his topic. So this is still because of what happened... "I think so too. Knowledgeable person would be a great human resource. For example, they have their own talent and can be flourish through —or one can discover someone's self through what he is learning." I blurted out and look at the deep night sky. "I think it will be so great if everyone is given education." I think Lazarus will be happy once he knew that education is for everyone already. This prince really surprises me of how he sees the world. I thought he is just a plain bastard. I looked at Lazarus because he was not answering me back. But there he is—staring at me with confusion. "How did you exaclty know the thought behind of that?" He asked me in awe. I just let out a chuckle. If he knows how information and knowledge can be shared in public! "Well, I am against the Aristocrats too. If that person they were after is just sharing some knowledge—then what they made us do is useless. But if that person intends to ruin the image of the castle... then we should at least do something about it." He nodded his head. "But what if he is stating the truth?" Why is he so emotional about this? Is he that person? "But the king wanted to see him. If what he do doesn't hurt... then we should do something to the prince in order to guarantee safety." "You know how to talk know, Genevierre. I guess hitting your head really makes you think." "Hey! Are you implying something!?" Is the Genevierre before is stupid or related to that? "You should take a rest, Genevierre. Tomorrow you will have your first assignment as a princess with me." Wow, an assignment as the princess? I thought I will be just visiting some room every morning an greet all the royal noble in the castle—act pretty and demure... any nothing more! "Oh? Do you want to come tomorrow–" "Of course, I want! I thought staying here was forever! I hate it!" "This is the first time you agreed to do something outside the castle. I am glad you can do your duties as a princess now." He laughed and offer his hand. "You are not just a pretty face after all..." My mouth hang opened in disbelief before taking his hand. "Are you saying... that I am pretty?" I started to tease him. "You are pretty," he declared as if it was nothing. After a few moments of teasing each other through the hallway, I finally get back at my room. Alone again. I am glad the court ladies aren't here! I should tell Lazarus tomorrow to not send any servants here every midnight! He is really not bad himself. I think Lazarus is a great leader. He thinks of his people and how it can affect its kingdom. I pouted and looked at myself in the mirror. "Why are you thinking of him? You are just his blood bag. Don't get fooled..." But he is really... a nice prince. Morning came and the ladies started to greet me with a smile. Now, I need them to help me get up. I am still sleepy. I feel light and I don't know what is happening around me—not until someone showed me a boots, pants, and some formal sleeves. "Since you are going outside princess, you should wear these..." My eyes widened with the red royal coat. "I am going to wear this!?" They all look afraid. "Don't you like it, princess—" "What do you mean I don't like it!?" I pulled it from them and jumped in happiness. "I love this! I hope I can wear something like this everyday!" I wanted to cry because finally, I am going to wear a pair of skinny pants—though its color white... But who cares!? At least it's pants! I am walking down towards outside with a little tears in my eyes. I have never feel so light and fresh since the beginning. I always wear big and heavy dress, with tight corsets and layers of head dress. But now I can even kick someone's face now. I do feel carefree! "Thank you for fixing my hair!" I am wearing a high ponytail with a bangs on it. "I think the prince do not like this kind of style—" My face flattened. "Don't think of Lazarus. I like my hair!" "Princees," Olivia called me, one of the court ladies. "Are you that close to the prince already? You can call him by his name?" I stopped from looking at myself in the mirror and glance at them—they are all waiting for my answer. I pouted—and nodded my head. I mean we are really close right now. I am even going with him and can push him without him threatening my life. I guess we are that close? "Oh god, princess! I want to congratulate you for being successful!!" Successful? All of them looked so happy for me–and here I am... Just dumbfounded. "Successful of what?" I couldn't help but to ask him. "Of making the prince yours, princess. I think you already got his heart!" Then they all started to shrieked. Wow. They are really into this. If only they knew what is really happening. After a few teasing session with my court ladies, someone called us to go in the carousel. "Lazarus!" I called him. He is standing in the carousel with his black coat, white jeans and just a pair of hat. He looks so perfectly fine. I smiled on him. He just smirked. "I think you are too excited for someone who is just going to work," he laughed on me. "You said for yourself that this is my first time! So I really feel excited!" "Really huh? Let's see." He told me as if something bad is going to happen. Well, what could go wrong in this trip? We are just going to ask someone and find his trace! Lazarus could also use his magic! So this should be easy!
