Rendezvous at Silver Lining

Damien's POV: Snakes in the garden

I heard a knock come from my office door. I looked up from my desk, which held a stack of documents that needed my undivided attention. I sighed and put my head back down, still shuffling through my paperwork.

"Come in."

My voice boomed out, and a few seconds later, in comes Jade. I looked at her from above the rim of my glasses. I only wear them when my eyes are tired and they're practically asleep.

"What is it, Jade? You know I asked not to be bothered this morning."

She looked unbothered by my attitude, and it annoyed me even more.

"Jade, I hope your only intention for knocking wasn't just to look at me and interrupt. You know we're not too old for me to give you a nuggy."

She smiled and laughed.

"Calm down, Mr. Cranky. I'm just here to tell you that you have a guest."

I frowned. I had no one on my schedule today that's supposed to be coming here. I dropped my stack back on my desk.

"Who's here? I thought I said ther-"

"Sorry, It just me. I didn't mean to disturb you. I can come back some other time."

In came Divinity. She wore a look of bashfulness, embarrassed that she had interrupted me during work. My tiredness and irritation immediately subsided, and a bright smile spread across my face.

"Oh, hey! What are you doing here, beautiful."

She smiled at my words, and I walked from around my desk to give her a hug and kiss. I led her to a chair that faced my desk, and I went back to sit in my chair.

"Oh, I just wanted to visit you. I also brought you something to snack on."

I didn't even realize she had anything in her hands until she lifted a white bag with something in it.

"I got you an everything bagel, coated with butter and jelly like you like. I got a cronut."

She smiled even brighter and did a happy jig at the mention of her food. I always laughed at how happy she gets about food.

"And here I thought I was a foodie."

She looked at me unbothered.

"Shut up, Mr. Or you won't get your bagel."

I pretended to seal and lock my lips close and threw away the key.

"Yeah, be quiet. At least you have something. I didn't get any snacks. I like food too, you know."

I all but forgot Jade standing in the room. She had her pretend pout on. Songbird smiled and looked back at her.

"Aww, you thought you were forgotten, didn't you. I could never."

Divinity pulled out a small box. She opened it, and inside was a red velvet cupcake with cream cheese frosting. Jade gasped and held her heart.

"You like, right?"

Divinity smiled up at her. Jade came close and held the box in her hand like it was made of pure gold.

"How did you know?"

"I asked Damien what some of your favorite foods were, and this was top of the list."

She winked at Jade. Jade grabbed the box and ran a nail across the icing, and stuck it in her mouth. She moaned out in delight at the taste.

"Damn, maybe I should've got one for myself too. It's that good?"

Songbird looked on in amazement and low-key lustful at that cupcake. She licked her lips and stared. Jade looked down at her, still sucking on her finger, and nodded.

"It's an orgasm you can eat."

I chuckled at her dramatics.

"You don't eat yours?"

Both Jade and I looked at Divinity like she had two heads. She gave a smirk at Jade, and she busted out laughing.

"Oh s**t! Oooooweeee, you betta watch out for her, D. Let me find out that Divinity ain't that innocent."

I was surprised as well by her crudness. I didn't have a problem with it. It was just shocking. She's never been that way with me.

"Awww, you can't handle it, sexy?"

Jade's eyes popped out, and I stayed quiet and enjoyed the show. I've never seen this side of Divinity before.I must say that I'm liking it.

"Let me get out of here before I steal your girlfriend... and this icing wouldn't be the only thing I'd be eating right now."

Jade smirked and winked at Divinity, and she smiled.

"Don't threaten me with a good time."

They both just stared at each other and burst out laughing. Jade nudged Divinity.

"Thanks, Vinnie."

"You're welcome, Jay."

Jade walked out my office and closed the door. Songbird looked back at me with a big smile on her face, and I just looked at her for a while.

"What?"

I raised a brow at her question.

"That was new."

"What was?"

"That way of speaking. Where did that come from?"

I chuckled, and she laughed and shook her head at me.

"Oh. She reminds me of my best friends. We speak to each other like that all the time. Why? You jealous, Mr. Becker?"

She wiggled her eyebrows at me with a smirk, and I leaned on my desk and gave her my bedroom eyes.

"Why would I be? I'd watch Jade make you c*m then I'd show you who it really belonged to."

Songbird immediately stopped smiling and averted her gaze. I leaned back and chuckled darkly.

"Yeah, that's what I thought."

She squirmed some in her seat. That was one of my favorite pastimes, just watching her squirm. I decided to bring the conversation back from its pit.

"So, Songbird, what brings you here other than to grace me with your beauty and... this bagel. "

I took a bite of the bagel she brought for me. I smiled inwardly. Surprisingly, no one other than my friends and family has ever brought me something before, even as small as a bagel.

"Oh, I just wanted to stop by for a little. I know I probably should've asked or called first. But I wanted to surprise you. I'm meeting with your uncle in a few hours to take a look at the building and set up for my art gallery opening. I have my finished pieces in my car to take there. But I had no idea you were so swamped. I can go if you need to focus."

"Oh, no. Please don't go. I'd love to have you here. I just won't be very good company."

I gave her a shy smile, and she smiled back. She nodded, and I went back to my paperwork. We sat in silence as we both ate our food, and I did my work. I was becoming frustrated because something wasn't adding up.

"What's wrong? I don't know all the details of your company but I think I could be useful either way."

I looked up from my papers and sighed.

"I don't know where our money is being drained from. Last market, we reached an all time high in profit, which is partly why my dad decided to partner with Silver Lining. But I swear ever since we partnered, the company's funds has been draining alot quicker than expected. My dad left me in his office for the remaining of the year and next year he's passing it down to me officially. I can't f**k up so close to it."

I was stressed as f**k and I couldn't see where the hole was. I threw my glasses off my face and slammed them on the desk. I clasped the bridge of my nose and took a deep breath. I didn't want to let her see me angry and frustrated. That's when I felt arms wrap around my neck from behind me. I slightly jumped but quickly relaxed once I realized it was Songbird.

"I'm sorry, Divinity. I didn't want you to see me like this."

She rubbed her hands through my hair and massaged my scalp. I closed my eyes and relaxed into her touch, leaning my head back against her comfy breast. That's when she began to hum to me. I didn't realize at first because it sounded heavenly, but I slowly opened my eyes to her honey brown ones. I just stared at her and she did the same as she continued to hum to me and massage my head. She's never sung around me, much less hummed. I closed my eyes to enjoy the moment. She kissed my forehead which had my eyes flying open. She smiled.

"Do you feel better?"

I smiled.

"Yeah. Thank you, Songbird."

She giggled.

"I gotta earn that tilted, right."

She came to the front of me, kissed my lips quick then turned her attention to the work on my desk. I wanted so badly for her to keep going but she looked like she wanted to help. She ran her fingers through my papers and took a seat on my lap. I wrapped a hand around her waist and pulled her closer to me. She was always so shocked by my strength. I'm a goofball so she forgets that I, do indeed, workout. She use to get super self conscious about sitting on my lap, but I ate out and spanked that ass into submission. She was totally focused on the task at hand. I continued to looked through some of the other files that sat on my desk. About 30 minutes later, she tapped me.

"I think I found your problem or at least I have a solution."

I whipped my head around and looked at her, but she kept her eyes focused on the documents.

"Now, I don't know what this is or where this is going to, but your signature is signed down here, or something like your signature. You're D's when signing is more slanted to the right, but this one isn't slanted at all. Also, your E's aren't the same way either. Not unless you switched it up since the partnership, but this is forged. Who's Talesman Corp? They are getting at least 200,000 every 2 weeks, and that's been since the beginning of August, and it's almost the end of October. That's before the partnership was completed with SL. The only reason you noticed it was because the funds that you have to use and put in with the new business deal with SL. You have a snake thats in your s**t, Damien. You need to find out who and quickly. You need to contact your banks immediately. You're close to losing one million by the end of October."

My heart jumped from my chest to my throat down to my ass. How the f**k did this happened. I snatched the document from Divinity and read the paper myself, not believing what I just heard. I slammed my fist down hard on my desk, making more documents topple over and fell to the floor. I was heated. Who the f**k would do this to me.

To bring me out of my blind rage, Divinity put a hand over my mine. She put a finger under my chin, pushing my head up to meet her eyes. I kept my eyes focused on the desk though. I had too much anger in them and I didn't want her to see that part of me.

"Look at me, Damien."

I hesitated and she gripped my chin between her thumb and pointer finger.

"Look at me."

Finally, I slowly lifted my eyes to meet hers and her eyes burned with determination.

"I got you. Do you trust me?"

I felt her words chip at my anger until there was nothing left but a puddle. I nodded my head because I couldn't bring myself to say anything. She nodded back at me. She got up and picked up a notepad and pen and sat in a chair that was in front of my desk.

"Who works in your finance department and who works closely to you that would have access to important files?"

I thought it over and gave her the names to everyone in my finance department and close supervisors and advisors.

"Ok. Speak to all of them one on one. Get them to sign something. Say it's an employee environment report, and you're checking to see if the company is running smoothly before you take over officially. Once done, give them to me, and I'll speak to my mama about it, and she can help me figure out who forged your signature. She used to work in fraud for the government. But before then, close down your account and move your money to a new account. Get someone to track the old account's activity by leaving dummy money in it. You should be able to see who's sending it and who's receiving it."

She wrote everything I needed to do down and handed it to me. I took the paper and just stared at her. I was in awe of her. She has this edge to her that you'd miss if you didn't pay attention. She is so kind and sweet that you'd never think that she would never ab able to think of something like this or know how to implement it. She walked around my desk as I stayed seated in my chair and gave me a hug. I squeezed her. She's literally everything any man could ask for, and she was here... with me. I gazed up at her. I had to lean back because I was so close that her boobs covered her face. I reached up to her face and held it in both my hands, bringing her face down to mine as I kissed her with so much passion. She climbed on my lap without breaking the kiss and wrapped her arms around my neck. We finally broke away when we both needed air. We touched our foreheads together, which seemed to become our thing recently. We both were panting. I lifted her chin to get her eyes to meet mine. I said what's been on my heart and mind since I've met her. I know it was still early in our relationship to say this, but I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't already there.
