“Looking good, man.”
I turned around to see my best friend, Jason. He was also invited to the ball tonight. Our dates were already at my place getting ready. I did it this way so we all can leave and drive together. I was in my green, gold and black, and Jason was in an all black tux with burgundy accents.
“You look good too, Jay.”
We were dressed and ready about a half hour ago. We were just waiting for the women. We both were on the couch, sitting across from each other. I leaned back against the couch with an arm draped over the top of it, and Jay leaned forward, elbows on his knees. I kept checking my watch and sighed. I was definitely anxious to leave.
“You good? You seem a bit jittery, D.”
“Yeah, I'm good. I just can't wait to see her.”
Jason snickered and rolled his eyes.
“Who? Olivia? You act like you haven't seen her in a while. True she’s taking f*****g forever to get down, but she'll be down in a sec.”
I snapped my head up towards him.
“What?! No, not her. I mean Divinity.”
He frowned looking at me.
“Who's Divinity?”
I forgot I haven't told him about her yet. I just smiled and looked at him.
“You'll see tonight. She'll be coming with Raphael. But make no mistake, she's mine.”
At my own words, I my eyes darkened, knowing my songbird would be showing up tonight with him irked me.
“She must be something. You never have women on your mind. Well, not unless you plan to f**k them.”
He chuckled. He wasn't wrong, so I couldn't refute him. He had no clue who she was or what she could do without trying. I began to chuckle along with him.
“You have no idea who she is, but you're gonna find out. She's the most beautiful woman you will ever see. Yeah, I definitely wanna f**k her, but I want more than that. Just assure me you'll keep your hands off her. I would hate to lose my best friend.”
I laughed as his eyes widened in shock.
“Oh s**t. It's that serious?”
“You'll understand shortly. It's that serious.”
I smiled at him. Just then, we heard the sounds of footsteps coming from the stairs.
“What's serious?”
Olivia and Alina came one after the other. They were both beautiful, but I could care less about what they had on. I only wanted to see my ebony nymph and these two were keeping me from her.
“How long it takes for the both of you to get ready.”
I said that as Jason and I stood from our seats. I was ready to go.
“Calm down. Perfection takes a while.”
Olivia had a stuck up attitude about herself, especially when it comes to her looks. I can't fault her because she really is beautiful but I know someone who looks amazing with little work.
“You both look great.”
Jason commented while walking toward Alina.
“Thank you Jason. You guys look great as well.”
Alina said, walking passed Olivia on the stairs.
“Let's get going. I don't want us all to be late.”
I was ready to go and was done waiting. I took Olivia's hand and placed it around my arm and escorted her out the door and to the limousine. Jason did the same for Alina. We piled in and the ladies conversed while Jason and I did some business on our phones. Once we were in the line, I put my phone away, not before checking to see if Divinity called or left a message. When I see her tonight, I'm gonna have to teach her a lesson about not keeping me waiting. The door was opened for us from the outside and one by one, we got out. Lights flashed and the noisy people became a cacophony of “over here” and “look this way”. I was the last to step out and the eruption once again picked up. I fixed my blazer and headed in. Olivia waited for me at the top of the steps. I held my arm up for her to hold on to when I reached her and we walked into the ball together. The big double doors were pushed open for our entrance. The marble floors gleamed from the hanging chandeliers that covered the large high ceiling. Intricate designs were displayed all throughout the building. The building itself is dome shaped. We walked up to enter the building but had to walk down steps to see all the exhibits and get to the dining hall. Statued pillars were around the circumference of the indoor balcony that overlooked the many guests. Paintings were on almost every wall. Deep burgundy carpets covered the steps we walked down. Purple, silver, and gold were the colors of the decor. Olivia must have heard those colors being the main colors and decided to duplicate the scheme. It was a light purple looking floor-length dress that draped around her body like the dresses you'd see in Greek mythology. It clung to her hips, defining her small waist, drooping in front, exposing her large breast. The sleeves hung off her arms like wings. The top part of the sleeves looked as if it had been cut, leaving square openings that were held together by small straps. The dress fell to the floor, silhouetting her figure perfectly, dragging behind her. Her jewelry she wore was gold and silver. Silver rings and earrings. Her hair was down her back, fluffy with soft curls, with a golden wreath around her head like a crown, her shoes just as golden. Her beautiful blue eyes enhanced from the pound of makeup on her face, which always looked as if they were hidden beneath a lash forest. She truly was a beautiful woman. No one could deny it, but she still paled in comparison to Divinity. All eyes fell to her once we descended down the steps. She was met with both envious and longing eyes, as was I. Most men would die to get to her and kill me to have her. What they didn't know was that I don’t even want her. s**t, they can have her.
I want something else. My eyes scanned the room, and I haven't seen her yet. Maybe we got here too early. I let go of Olivia's arm to search the other rooms, and she allowed me. She likes the attention of men wanting to have her and women wanting to be her. It had been a good 15 minutes since I got here and I still couldn't find her.
Where are you, songbird?
And almost like my prayer had been answered, she comes sauntering into the building. She stood atop of the staircase and gazed down at us lowly peasants. Her smile was blinding as she took in her surroundings. I gazed up at her in absolute awe. The talk around me quieted down once everyone took notice of Divinity. Murmurs and slight gasps could be heard all throughout the room. She looked angelic. The green she wore looked like a forest color. The dress itself was god sent. The velvet clung to her every curve. Looking down, the slit of the dress gave access to her juicy firm thigh that showed off her sexy tattoos. Her breasts looked as if they wanted freedom from her dress the way they sat up. The gold enhanced her majestic aura. Her gorgeous hair fell to her back in small waves that I wanted to glide my hands through. Raphael took her hand and put it in the pocket of his arm, and walked her down the steps. She glided down the stairs and floated across the floor. Every eye was on her, yet no one said a word. I felt someone move closer to me.
“Is that her?”
It was Jason. He came and stood beside me, staring at our hypnotist.
“That's her. That's Divinity.”
“Damn. I can see why you were anxious. She's gorgeous. Is… she it for you?”
I knew what he was asking, and without hesitation, I answered him.
“Absolutely.”
I heard him chuckle. I couldn't take my eyes off her.
“It seems Raphael may feel the same. He's holding onto her rather tightly.”
I frowned at Jason's words because he was right. He had a hand around her waist. Before I knew it, I began to move closer towards them. Raphael noticed me first and immediately smirked in my direction. I've never been jealous of a soul my whole life. Tonight, however, I'm aggravated that I'm not in his position right now and I'm hella jealous of that damn dress above all. It's all over her, something I want to be. I was close enough to call out to her.
“Divinity.”
She turned at the sound of my voice and her name being called. Her eyes lit up, and her smile brightened when she saw who it was.
“Damien!”
My heart almost burst upon hearing her. My body froze. I had to control myself before I jumped her sexy ass right here in front of everyone. Once controlled, I smiled back at her.
“You look… just… breathtaking.”
My words were cut short. She had me speechless. My eyes involuntarily scanned her up and down. She squirmed under my heated gaze, and I smirked at her reaction. Raphael stood closer and slightly stood in front of her.
“Hello Damien.”
I shifted my gaze to look at Raphael. He looked pissed but I didn't give a s**t about that at all. I liked getting under his skin.
“Good evening, Raphael. You are quite the lucky man. The whole building fell silent when you entered with… songbird, here.”
I glanced at Divinity and smiled, and she smirked and lowered her head some from embarrassment.
“You're still gonna call me that, huh?”
She didn't look at me at all but had a cute smile on her face. I walked closer to her and put my finger to her chin, and lifted her head up to meet my eyes.
“I thought I made it clear for you to look me in the eyes when speaking to me. Or do you prefer me doing it for you?”
My voice came out lower than I anticipated, and a playful smirk appeared on my lips. She looked up at me, her lips slightly parted. It took everything in me not to kiss them. Before I lost control, Raphael parted us two and stood completely in front of her.
“She'll be just fine if you keep your hands to yourself, and please be mindful to be respectful and call her by her name.”
I smiled and nodded.
“I love calling her name. I'm trying to get her to say mine more.”
He looked pissed, as if he was gonna swing on me. But before he could, Olivia came up beside me and grabbed my arm, and pulled me to her.
“Here you are, Damien. I've been looking for you.”
She smiled her smile and then pretended not to see Raphael until just then and gasped.
“Oh, well, hello Raphy. I just noticed you. You look wonderful. How are you?”
I, nor Raphael, was buying that bullshit.
“Hello Olivia. Please do not call me that.”
He sounded so bored with her presence. I was, too. She moved closer to him and laid her hand on his upper arm, and smiled even brighter.
“Aww, you're still like that? Ok, fine, Raphael. Are you gonna dance with me later? I don't see you with anyone tonight.”
Both me and Raphael were irked by her comments concerning Divinity. He frowned and then removed her hand.
“Do not be rude to my guest. She’s right here.”
She looked over at Divinity, and her smile faded before she spoke.
“I don't see much.”
I looked at Divinity, and I could see she was surprised, confused, and mad. I turned back to Olivia, about to check her, and it looked as if Raphael was too. Just then, Divinity spoke up.
“It's quite alright. I can't see petty women either. My advice, before you start making comments on people you don't know, make sure it's with a person that can't respectfully disrespect you in such a way that it will still have you thinking about what I said three days from now and could beat your ass without hesitation in a heartbeat.”
With that, she turned around and walked away. Olivia's mouth was wide open, and the others that were around heard Divinity's comments and began to snicker at her remarks. I smiled from shock and pride. I was shocked cause I didn't know she had that in her and pride because she could hold her own against Olivia, who's known to be problematic if she sees you as a problem. Olivia spoke after finally being able to compose herself.
“You really brought… THAT here?”
“I did. And don't ever address her as “that” again. Watch your mouth.”
Raphael took a step closer to her as he spoke, then backed away and walked in the direction Divinity went. I only wished I could follow as well. I turned my attention back to Olivia.
“Why would you say that about her? You don't even know her?”
“I saw the way she was looking at you. Nobody can have you but me.”
I rolled my eyes at her.
“When did you start thinking that? You never really mind any other time. And the last time I checked, YOU wanted Raphael.”
She looked flustered as if she got caught. I honestly didn't care. If she got with him, it would leave Divinity open for just me.
“Don't be that way.”
She gave me a small pout and leaned her body closer to me, pressing her boobs against my arm. I looked down at her, then looked up and sighed.
This was gonna be a long ass night.
