CHAPTER TWENTY SIX One foot in front of the other, leaving curls of dust on the air behind her, Ilse made her way down the trail, through the dark. As she continued along, Ilse spotted no additional signs. No fabric, no bent branches, nothing she might have imagined as a sort of breadcrumb trail leading her through the night.
