Daisy’s Pov
We looked around and listened,
nothing. No engines. No footsteps, we were alone for now. Killian pushed the bike to another side of the forest. Surely he was trying to mislead those bad guys in case they got here any time soon.
Once he was back to me, he helped me to my feet "Can you walk?,” he asked with concern in his voice.
I nodded, barely.
We moved deeper into the forest and after some minutes the forest became clearer and we could hear the sound of a vehicle. Thank God we were close to the roadside.
“Please can we rest here?” I asked Killian, pointing at a log. My breath was heavier now and I was barely holding on.
We sat and rested while he stood up taking guard.
Eight minutes later we heard it. An engine, a hub different from before this one was familiar. It was Viktor's car.
The black SUV emerged from the trees, minutes away from the road, and stopped. Viktor got out of his eyes scanning, gun in his hand.
“Are you two ok?”
“ We need to leave this place immediately,” Killian responded in a hurry.
"Alright," Viktor responded as he tossed Killian the keys. "Your car's totaled. This one's clean and untraceable," he added.
"Thanks," Killian replied.
I got into the passenger seat and Killian climbed behind the wheel.
"Be careful" Viktor cautioned as he stuffed one hand into his pocket the other one held his gun tapping it at his side.
“Always, ” Killian said.
As we reversed. I made a silent prayer, “Dear God, protect us.”
….
We walked into the house like a storm. Our shoulders tense, jaw tightened. The moment the door shut behind us, silence swallowed us.
“Daisy,” Killian called out of the blue.
My heart pounded against my ribs like it was trying to claw out. Because at that moment everything sounded and looked scary to me.
I didn't answer, I just looked at him.
“Please give me your phone” he asked.
I reached out for my phone in my bag and held it to him. He didn't move and neither did I, we just stood there staring at each other as if nothing else existed.
He was the first to break eye contact and collect the phone from me. He spoke in a low voice, so chilled that I began to question if this was the man who had just left a firing encounter.
“We should change your SIM and when this tension cools down,” he said gesturing a hand between us “ we will get you a new phone, it is a high possibility that these people are tracking your phone and that is how they always know our location.”
And somehow, I couldn't feel upset with losing a sim I had had all my life. Instead, I felt relieved in my guts knowing someone always got me.
He turned it off, pulled out the SIM card, and snapped it in half.
I stared at the broken SIM card. It just made logical sense how they always find us. “They've been watching me this whole time”
My hands started shaking again slightly. My skin flushed from fear…and somewhere in all of this, were wants and desires I couldn't suppress.
Killian's chest was rising and falling, the view of his bare chest from his unbuttoned shirt sent a strange adrenaline down my spine.
I didn't speak, I just swallowed. I was still trembling, still scared yet I was getting wet down there…
Sure I needed a therapist.
“If you need anything I would be in my room,” he said in a low voice already walking toward the stairs.
Wow…just wow. Did I hear that right? Did he just say “If I need anything, ? he was in his room” a perfect statement to nurse my urge.
I nodded. “Okay…” I dragged the word.
Once he disappeared upstairs, I let out a breath. Maybe I should call Dad, but I didn’t want him worrying beside, Killian was handling the situation just fine.
I dragged myself to the fridge and grabbed a bottle of water and drank half of it on a goal. Maybe just maybe this cold water could ease the heat between my thighs. I just sat on the couch and let myself take in everything that had happened so far.
Minutes later, my pulse slowed, my nerves settled. Or so I thought.
As I climbed the stairs quietly.
After a few steps, I was at my door. But before I held the doorknob, I instinctively turned toward Killian's doors, which were half-opened. Then I decided to check on him, or should I say check his brushes from earlier ?,Before I could stop myself I was already at his door.
I pushed the door open slowly and scanned the room for any sign of but nothing.
I hesitated for a moment. I should've gone to my room. Should've just closed his door.
But instead, I walked in slowly, the tiles cold against my bare feet. I checked his closet, nothing. Then I checked his bathroom.
He was there. In the bathing tube. naked.
My breath hitched. I knew I shouldn't be here, but my feet couldn't move.
Killian is sitting in the bathtub his back resting on his, his face facing upward one arm slung casually over the bathtub, and the other hand holding a thick cigar. smoke coils around him.
I stared at how hot he looked and heat pooled low in my belly as I wished I were the water he was buried in. I bite a corner of my lip.
Stop Daisy just leave.
I turned to move when I heard his voice.” Surely you didn't come here to just admire me or did you? " he asked.
My heart was pounding, and my breathing came in shallow pulls. I slowly turned to face him again.
He took a long drag of his cigar. But he didn't turn.
“I..I..just came to check on you and see if you applied medicine to your bruises" I force the words out.
He was just quiet for a while.
“Then why are you leaving without checking? Or you changed your mind, Amore?”
I walked slowly to him. Once I got to the corner of the bathtub I lowered myself and drew light strokes on his arm around his bruises, yet avoiding eye contact.
He didn't move at first, he just adjusted his hand in front of me.
And my breath became uneven.
He ashes his cigar slowly, his expression unreadable and calm.
"How could I be so scared and so turned on at the same time? I was f****d up, or maybe just fucked."
