The Calm Before

"Lucia! Lucia!! Come see something!" Alphonso Alvarez excitedly called out to his daughter.
Lucia Alvarez ran out from the kitchen to see what her father was eagerly calling her to see.
Lucia Alvarez was tall and beautiful. With dark luscious hair and long straight hair.
"Emiliano is in the hospital!" Alphonso said excitedly as he pointed to the news on the TV carrying the details of the accident.
"I told you! I told you we would get our revenge and receive what is rightfully ours!" He said with a wide smile on his face.
"Hey, Dad!" Lucia said with an angry look on her face
"Don't tell me you're responsible for this?" She asked.
"I never said so" Alphonso replied. "But this occurrence makes it way more possible for us to take back what is ours!" He said as he raised his hands triumphantly.

The doctor walked in cutting Emilianos' words before he could his sentence.
"I think that will be okay for now. You should leave now and let him rest and I would suggest you go home too", the doctor said.
Antonio tried to protest but the doctor insisted he goes home and gets some rest before returning the next morning.
"Don't worry your father will be fine" Rico assured him.
"And I promise you he will be here when you return tomorrow morning". He added
Antonio yielded to the doctor's advice to go home. but he chose to not take any of their vehicles or call any of the drivers
He decided to take a cab on his own so he could clear his head and think.
As he stepped into the car his father's statements began to replay in his head.
"Why is dad telling me all these at this point? Who are these people he is talking about and what does he has with them?" He mumbled to himself.
"What was he about to say?"
He was lost in thought that he didn't know when he arrived home.
When he entered the building, Lucas was awake but Elena had gone to bed.
"How are you Anton and how is he?" Lucas inquired
"I am fine Lucas and he is awake surprisingly so!" he said
On hearing this, Lucas jumped for joy
"Yey!" He screamed. "That's great news! Am so happy to hear this and that's all I need to hear right now". Lucas said
"Just go in and freshen up and go to bed, we would be at the hospital together first thing by morning". Lucas said as Antonio walked up the stairs.
Suddenly Antonio turned around and asked; "Hey! Hope you're staying over tonight?" He asked
"Yes bro, the maids have already prepared a room for me. We would leave together in the morning then"
"Okay!" Antonio replied as he walked up to his room.

"Hey Antonio my boy," Mrs. Martinez said with a lovely smile on her face
The young Antonio ran into his mom's arms smiling broadly as they both hugged each other closely.
She loved him with all her heart and he loved her too.
"One day boy, you are going to own all these and find a beautiful queen who will marry you and bear you children". She said as she pointed to their large estate and exotic cars.
"Yes mummy and you will be there to see it all," He said with love in his eyes to his mom.
"Yes I will" She replied lovingly.
But as she made that statement, a force pulled her away from Antonio and continued separating them.
Antonio stretched out his hands to his mother and cried
"Mom! Mom!" He called out.
"Antonio!" She screamed and disappeared into thin air.
Suddenly Antonio woke up from his dream.
"Oh s**t! It's another dream!" Antonio said to himself.
At least he was glad that it was his mom and not his dad.
Such a dream about his dad could connote imminent death.
He would not know how to handle such shocking news if it was his dad.
Then suddenly the phone rang, he was startled by this and hesitated for a moment.
"It could only be the hospital," he thought to himself.
Antonio feared the worst as he picked up the phone to receive the call.
"Hello, who is this?" He asked nervously.
"Hey, Anton! It's Eddy, I heard about what happened on the news, I'm so sorry!" The voice over the phone replied.
"Whew!" Antonio heaved a sigh of relief. Eddy was a friend and business partner of his. And he just called to check on Antonio.
"You have no idea, how relieved I am to hear your voice right now Eddy!" Antonio said in relief.
"Okay?" Eddy replied as he was a little confused.
"Nevermind Bro, thanks for the call". Antonio said and then they ended the call.
Antonio decided to go down to the kitchen the get some water to drink. He had barely eaten anything since the accident.
As he was about to leave the kitchen he ran into his sister Elena.
"Anton, you are back! I didn't know when you got in," she said in amazement.
"You were already sleeping when I arrived but I have good news". Antonio said.
"What is it?" She asked with eagerness.
"Dad is awake!" Antonio said to her with a smile on his face.
Elena on hearing that her father was awake jumped into Antonio's arms screaming for joy
"Oh, Antonio thank goodness! I'm so happy right now! I can't believe my ears! So soon? Can we go and see him now? She asked in anticipation.
"No, not now! "Antonio said with a wry smile on his face.
"At least wait till daybreak before we go!" He said.
"Did you speak with him?" Elena asked. "How is he?"
What did he say?"
"Can he move"?
"Can he walk?"
The questions kept rushing out of her mouth like tap water without a pause for an answer.
"Calm down! calm down Elena".Antonio said with a smile on his face
"He is fine and yes we spoke but he is still hurting from the impact of the accident, but he is fine"
"Just that he said he had a lot to tell me and we didn't have a lot of time to talk because the doctor wouldn't let us converse for long". Antonio said
"I was told to let him rest but I believe we will talk a lot better tomorrow". He concluded
"That's fine" Elena replied now sounding a little more upbeat than she had been all day.
"But Antonio?" She said
"Yes what is it Elena?" he asked.
"That detective, what was his mission?"
"Why was he there at the hospital?"
"I have no idea" Antonio replied.
"But I am going to find out"
"Oddly, he showed up at this time but I will make sure I get to the root of it". Antonio said definitively.
As they were speaking, the house phone began to ring again.
"Don't these people understand that it's the middle of the night and we need to rest?" He asked in frustration.
"I don't want any more condolence call my dad is not dead!" He said as he walked towards the phone.
Elena attempted to pick up the call but Antonio stopped her and took the call for himself.
"Hello!" He said sharply into the receiver.
"Hello!" Dr. Rico said
"Antonio you need to come over to the hospital right now!" He said with a lot of urgency in his voice.
