Chapter Twenty-Six ~July 7~ Diana had stayed in her room the previous evening, not even coming down for dinner. In truth, she didn’t have much of an appetite after the day she’d had. She went to sleep early and ended up sleeping on a pillow damp with her tears. This morning, however, her mother didn’t seem as if she was going to be as easy to dismiss as Lord Colburne had been. She knocked on Diana’s door over an hour after she normally had breakfast. “Diana?” “Yes,” Diana said as she answered her door. “Are you feeling all right? George said you didn’t come down for breakfast this morning, and Cook said you sent back your dinner untouched,” her mother said.
