Cohen’s POV

I sat in my office with my head in my hands, staring at these damn reports. How was I supposed to protect my pack and my family from these bloodsuckers ?

I growled in annoyance and swung a file off my desk.

“How’s my big bad wolf?” Whitney asked as she entered my office.

I was the luckiest Alpha in the world, the moon goddess blessed me with the most beautiful, caring and smart Luna. I’m not sure what I did to deserve her, I was always grumpy and mean but my sweet sweet mate always puts me in a good mood.

I definitely needed her right now, I had the worst attitude and it was all because of those f***ing vampires.

My beautiful queen sat on my lap and wrapped her arms around my neck to give me a comforting hug. I wrapped my big arms around her gently and held her tight as I buried my face in her neck and inhaled her intoxicating citrusy scent.

“I love you, Whitney.” I said to her lovingly.

“I love you too” She said in a giggle.

I kissed up and down her neck and collarbone and growled lowly, making her moan.

I grabbed the back of her neck and crashed my lips on hers, kissing her passionately. She placed her soft hands on both sides of my scruffy face. Oh goddess, I loved this woman.

I picked her up and bent her over my desk. I lifted her dress and gently rubbed her core through her underwear.

“Ohh Cohen!” Whitney moaned.

I grinned and pulled down her underwear, I rubbed her cl*t and then entered two fingers in her p***y. F**k, she was always so wet for me.

“I need you, Whit.” I told her as I pulled down my pants in one switch motion and replaced my fingers with my c**k.

She screamed my name as I f***ed her slowly and passionately.

I held her tight and made sweet love to my gorgeous mate, there’s nothing I wouldn’t do for my queen.

After I released inside her, I spun her around and kissed her lovingly.

“That was amazing, Cohen.” Whitney said softly. I smiled at her and placed soft kisses on her nose and forehead.

“I have to go, you should rest babe. You haven’t slept all night, i’ll try to sneak away and meet you for a nap, ok?” She said to me as she pecked my lips and walked out.

Yeah..I really need a nap. I stayed up all night with Isaac trying to figure out what to do about all these vampire attacks.

I love my little brother but damn he was annoying sometimes. Everything is so dramatic with him, why couldn’t he just find his mate and simply mate and mark her? Nooo..he had to go through all these dates and ways to impress her, and he had to drag me through it with him. For f**k’s sakes.

I really was happy for him though, everyone should be able to feel the magic of the mate bond.

I yawned and stretched, I decided to go up to our room. As I was walking up the stairs..

“VAMPIRES ON THE TERRITORY! TWO NEAR THE WESTERN BORDER AND THREE AT THE SOUTHERN BORDER.”

One of the warriors mindlinked. F**K! I ran downstairs and mindlinked the entire pack for the children and women to hide and for the willing and able to help and fight.

“Whitney! Where are you?!” I mindlinked her.

Silence.

“Whit!?!” I tried again, but she still didn’t answer.

Panic rose through me, I sprinted out of the packhouse and tried to follow her scent.

I shifted into my large black wolf and followed her citrusy scent, it was the way to my parent’s house. That’s great, hopefully she’s inside and hiding with them.

As I got closer, I noticed a bloodsucker stalking around the house. I tackled him to the ground and growled loudly.

The f***er wrapped his cold arms around my neck and squeezed painfully tight, f**k he was strong, I could feel my bones starting to crack.

Before he was successful with breaking my neck, I connected my jaw to his neck and shoved him back and forth until I ripped his head right off his body.

I shook off the dead flesh from my face and ran up to the door. I shifted back and went in the house, I immediately knew something was wrong.

The smell of rotten flesh filled my nostrils, I slowly walked through the house until I walked in the living room and I came face to face with the intruders.

One f***er had a knife to Whitney’s neck, another had a knife to my father’s neck and my mother was laying unconscious on the floor. I listened intently and I could hear that my mom’s heart was still beating. Whitney’s eyes were full of tears, my poor queen looked terrified.

“LET THEM GO.” I growled.

The pale blond that had his disgusting hands on my mate was grinning at me, I couldn’t wait to wipe that grin off his face and rip his arms off his body.

“Ahh the new Alpha, such a shame really that you and your beautiful mate here are in the middle of this fight. But I do have a debt to repay.” The blond vampire said in a creepy voice.

“What the f**k are you talking about?” I spat at him.

He laughed out loud and glared at my father.

“Leo, I see you have withheld some information from your son.”

I looked at my father and his eyes were painfully closed, I could feel the waves of guilt radiating off of him.

“Dad?” I asked.

“Cohen..i’m so sorry.” My dad said in a broken voice.

I turned my attention to Whitney, she was trying to stay strong, she looked at me with pained eyes. This had gone long enough, I roared so loud that it shook the house and I stepped forward. The blond bloodsucker held the knife tighter and drew blood from Whitney’s neck. She winced in pain and I could see her blood sizzle, f**k it looked like those were silver blades coated in wolfsbane.

“Please..take me in her place.” I pleaded.

The f***er grinned at me and I glared into his piercing red eyes.

“Regretfully, I cannot accept your offer. It must be her. Until next time, Leo.” Those were the last words he said before I lunged at him but I wasn’t quick enough..

I watched as he stabbed the knife through Whitney’s chest, she yelled out in pain and fell forward. I caught her in my arms and the blond vampire disappeared. I roared as I held my beautiful Whitney in my arms, the pain I felt in my chest was excruciating. I hugged her tightly and willed her to live.

“Cohen..I love you.” Whitney whispered painfully.

“Whitney please don’t leave me, my queen. Please, hold on for me.” I begged her.

Then, my heart felt like it snapped in two, and I knew..that was the snap of the mate bond..I had lost my Whitney, my love.

I fell to the ground as darkness consumed me.
