Isaac’s POV I placed my hand on Mila’s thigh as she drove to the packhouse. Her warm skin helped to soothe my nerves, I was a nervous wreck. My family and friends were attacked, my mother said it was bad so I assumed the worst. I hoped everyone made it out alive but I had a feeling we had lost some lives. “What do you think happened?” Mila asked me softly. I ran my fingers through my hair and shook my head, my eyes watered up instantly. “I-I don’t know..I have a bad feeling that someone in my family didn’t make it.” I replied painfully. Mila grabbed my hand and gave me a comforting look. “I’ll help you through whatever happened ok? I’m here for you.” She said as tears slowly rolled on her cheeks. “Hey, what’s wrong?” I asked her while I wiped her tears with my thumb. She rubbed her eyes and shook her head. “I’m sorry Isaac, this just brings up bad memories, I’ll be alright.” She said. I felt horrible, I totally forgot she had been through the loss of her father, I should have insisted that she stayed home. I can’t imagine losing my father, I really hope nothing happened to mine. I closed my eyes and tried to think positive. We finally reached Midnight Howl territory and Mila parked her jeep in front of the packhouse. There was a bunch of people running frantically and jumping into their loved ones arms. My chest pinched in pain, I really had a bad feeling. “Let’s go to the pack hospital..I have a feeling that’s where we need to go..” I said dimly. I grabbed Mila’s hand and led her to the hospital that wasn’t too far away from the packhouse. As we entered, I could hear the painful cries from my mother. I paused and clutched my chest. F**k.. Mila placed her hands on my shoulders and kissed my cheek lovingly. “I’m right here, Isaac.” She said, I grabbed her hand again and followed my mother’s voice. When we finally reached my mother, I saw my father hugging her and comforting her. Thank goodness, both my parents were alright. I fell to the ground when I realized who was missing and why my mother would cry like that. Tears welled up in my eyes and I screamed in agony. “NOO!!” I shouted as I cried full of anger. I sat on the floor and elbowed the wall behind me. Mila dropped to her knees and she craddled my head on her chest. I hugged her tight and inhaled her soothing scent. “Isaac..” My father said painfully. I looked up and both my parent’s eyes were red and swollen. “Who killed him?!” I asked in a broken voice. My parents looked at eachother and my mother addressed me. “Cohen is still alive sweetie..but he’s in bad shape.” “What?!” I answered hopefully. I got up quickly and helped Mila up, I pulled her close with my arm around her waist, my mother gave us a half smile. “Where is he? I want to see him!” I said loudly. My father nodded and led us to his room. Cohen was unconscious, he was very pale and hooked up to a bunch of machines. I walked up next to him and placed my hand on his arm. I didn’t like to see my brother like this, I always saw him as invincible, how could anything ever happen to him? He was the strongest wolf I knew, surely he put up a good fight. He had to have been outnumbered by a lot. I examined his body and noticed that he didn’t have a scratch on him, what the hell happened?! “What happened to him, Dad? He doesn’t seem to have any injuries?!” I asked curiously. My father put his face in his hands and started sobbing loudly, my mother walked out of the room crying. I looked down at Mila and she had a worried expression on her face. “Where’s Whitney?!” I asked fearfully. My father simply shook his head and looked to the floor. “WHERE IS SHE?!” I screamed at him angrily. Mila grabbed my arm and forced me to look at her. “Isaac..” She said gently while her eyes watered up. I hugged her tightly as I sobbed in the crook of her neck. No..this couldn’t be true. Whitney couldn’t be dead. She was like a sister to me..she was such an amazing woman, I looked up to her. What would become of my brother?! Usually wolves die when they lose their mates, i’m certain my brother would have passed too if he wasn’t such a strong Alpha. I composed myself and looked at my father in pain. “What happened to her, Dad?” I asked in a low voice. “Come on, son. Let’s go discuss this in Cohen’s office.” My father said softly as he exited the room. I turned to face my brother and got on my knees next to his bed. I grabbed his hand and brought it to my forehead as I cried softly. “Cohen..I need you to pull through for me, for the pack. I can’t lose my big brother and we need our Alpha..please Cohen, please fight.” I begged him in a strained voice. Mila gently rubbed my back and my shoulder to comfort me. I got up and led her out of the room. I stopped in the middle of the hall and pulled her in for another hug. “Thanks for coming here and being with me, it means more to me than you’ll ever know.” I said and she got up on her tippy toes and wrapped her arms around my neck and softly placed her lips on mine. Her touch brought warmth and comfort to my entire body. I’m usually instantly aroused when she kisses me but not this time, this time her touch was healing and soothing. “I’m going to go talk to my father. I know this is kinda weird for you since you don’t know anyone here..do you want to wait in my room?” I asked her. She looked at me pensively. “Where’s your mother?” She asked. Her words surprised me, all I could muster was “Uhh..” “I think she probably needs someone to talk to right now..” She said softly. I smiled widely at her, she was the most amazing woman on earth. “I can wait in your room if you’re not ready for me to meet her though.” She said quickly. I shook my head and smiled as I lifted her up to hug her. “I love you, Mila.” I blurted out. She looked at me with wide eyes. I kissed her forehead and chuckled. I put her down gently and led her out of the hospital. “Come on! My mother was so excited to meet you, she’ll be so happy that you’re there for her.” I said to her smiling. This isn’t how I expected Mila to meet my mother at all, but i’m still so happy to have the two most important women in my life meeting eachother for the first time. My mother truly is going to love her..
