25 Once Tarkus had ensured the Glimmer was safely into jump space he slumped back in his chair and shook his head. “Dammit, I need a drink. And not a coffee! Something stronger. Come on, you could use something as well.” Kaira released her straps, stood up and left the flight deck. Tarkus locked the flight deck behind them then they walked sombrely toward the kitchen. Kaira still couldn’t shake the feeling they should have done more for those on the freighter, even though she knew there was nothing more they could have done. It was a horrible feeling, one which left her feeling helpless and useless, and she thought Tarkus must feel even worse. He was the one in charge of the Glimmer. He was the one who’d actually made the decision not to head in and try to save the freighter. H
