Tarkus insisted on making drinks and getting something to eat before starting to explain. He offered Kaira some food but she shook her head. Her stomach still hadn’t properly recovered from the Glimmer’s cartwheeling through space. A drink was all she could manage.
They both sat down, Kaira on the sofa and Tarkus on a chair. After he’d taken a drink he put it to the side and looked at her.
“So, what do you need to know about jump space?” he said. “I guess the reason I wasn’t quite so worried about transitioning back into jump space comes first. When you enter jump space you tear a hole in reality, forcing a path from real space to jump space. That’s what can lead to the explosions — if you tear a hole into an area which is already unstable then you trigger a chain reaction.
