The mysterious message clung to my thoughts, a persistent presence that followed me from the meeting room back to the apartment. As we settled in, I gathered my resolve. I decided it was time to share the message with my partners. “That’s certainly cryptic,” Kylie mused, her brow furrowed as she stared at the message on her phone. Her fingers tapped lightly on the screen, betraying her curiosity. “Do you think it’s related to the hotel project?” I rolled my eyes, trying to play off Kylie’s question with nonchalance, “I have no idea,” I replied casually, as if the message didn’t bother me. In truth, it gnawed at me like a persistent itch beneath my skin. “It might just be some kind of prank.” Kylie’s fingers drummed restlessly on the table, her gaze fixed on the message’s words. “Something about it just feels off,” her voice tinged with unease. Aviva leaned back in her chair. “We shouldn’t jump to conclusions,” she cautioned. My fingers tapped a nervous rhythm against the table as I tried to anchor myself in the moment. “I agree with Aviva,” I said, forcing determination into my words, hoping it would spread to the others. However, Kylie’s curiosity wasn’t easily appeased. Her direct gaze bore into me, and the question she posed caught me off guard. “What are you hiding, Emily?” "Hiding? "What in the world are you talking about?” I shot back. “We’re on the brink of actualizing our dream—a hotel that’s meant to make a significant impact,” Kylie continued, “And now this message about your past surfaces. It’s only natural for us to wonder what lies behind it.” “Let’s stay focused on our business plans,” Aviva interjected, hoping to guide us back to our original purpose. Kylie’s frustration burst forth, her voice sharp and accusatory. “Emily is keeping something from us. Whatever it is, it’s bound to come back and haunt us.” “We’re already being pulled away from our goals. Please, Kylie, let’s not allow this message to distract us,” I pleaded, my tone resolute. “But it’s more than just a distraction. Can't you see?” Kylie insisted. Aviva’s hand landed softly on Kylie’s arm, an attempt to relieve the rising tension. “Let’s continue concentrating on our business plans.” Stepping closer to Kylie, I placed my hands on her shoulders, meeting her eyes with a steady gaze. “Kylie, think about it. Whoever sent that message sees the potential in our future. They want to distract us,” I said, my voice stable despite the turmoil within me. Kylie’s unruly stance wavered as my words sank in. “Well, it’s working,” she admitted, her shoulders slumping. “We won’t let it,” I affirmed, my voice firm as I met her gaze. “We’re strong, determined women. We won’t be swayed by faceless cowards.” Kylie nodded slowly “It’s hard to ignore, though,” her shoulders sagging slightly. “We won’t ignore it, but we won’t let it derail us either,” I reassured her. Deep within me, the mystery of the message still gnawed at my thoughts, but I was resolved to face it head-on, in our own time. We dove into the interior design process, meticulously selecting locations and strategizing as we set the gears in motion for our upcoming hotel venture. The mysterious message persisted in my mind, its presence like a shadow that refused to be ignored. Resolving to seek clarity, I decided to confide in a family friend renowned for his investigative skills. “I’ll be right back, guys,” I announced to my friends, excusing myself from the room under the pretense of taking a call in the restroom. As I punched in his number, my fingers trembled with nervous anticipation. The line connected, and I narrated everything to him. I could feel his attention fixed on me, even through the phone. “Sometimes, Emily, the past has a way of resurfacing when we least expect it." His words sent shivers up my spine, and I was lost in thinking. Could the message be related to my past in unexpected ways? “Are you there Emily?” His voice pulled me from my daze. “Yeah,” I replied, my voice slightly distant. “I'd advise that you focus on your business unless you truly have something unsettling from your past to worry about.” “Thanks,” I managed, my mind still grappling with the implications of his perception. “We’ll talk later, Wesley,” I said, ending the call with my mind filled with uncertainty. As I walked back to my friends, the mantra echoed in my thoughts, a steady rhythm to keep my resolve intact. “Emily, focus, focus, this is only meant to be a distraction. You're determined and focused. Don't let some faceless coward distract you.” *** Months of planning and hard work had finally led us to this moment—the moment when our dream hotel would begin to take shape. As we stood in front of the building that would house our aspirations, excitement and nervousness swirled within me. "Can you even believe it?" Kylie's voice was tinged with awe as she gazed up at the set structure before us. "This is real. It's finally happening." Aviva's smile shone like the rays of the, "It's unexpected, isn't it? All those late nights and brainstorming have led us here." I nodded in agreement, my heart pounding with nerves and anticipation. "It's incredible to see our vision become reality." The grand entrance beckoned guests inside, promising an experience that would be nothing short of remarkable. As we stepped through the entrance, I marveled at how far we had come. I was fighting back my cheerful tears. The lobby was a masterpiece of design, with polished marble floors and intricately designed chandeliers casting a warm glow. The front desk gleamed with sophistication, and the seating areas exuded comfort and luxury. Kylie's fingers traced the edge of a velvet-upholstered chair. "This is going to be the heart of our hotel," she asserted, her voice firm. "The place where memories will be made." We toured the space, each room unveiling a unique atmosphere that spoke to the different aspects of our vision. The restaurant, the spa area, and the saloon were a sanctuary of style and pampering. Aviva’s laughter chimed. “We’re not just creating a place to stay; we’re crafting a world of possibilities.” “So much money and effort have gone into this,” I whispered, a sense of awe and gratitude settling over me. Kylie placed a hand on my shoulder, her expression earnest. “And every bit of it was worth it.” As we kept ascending the staircase to the upper floors, I couldn't help but be amazed by the attention to detail. Each room was meticulously designed to offer comfort and elegance. It was evidence of the hours we had poured into every decision, every choice. We reached the rooftop terrace, and the dramatic view of the city took my breath away. "And here’s where our guests will experience the magic of the city lights," I said, my voice filled with pride. Kylie clapped her hands together. "And where unforgettable rooftop parties will be held." I couldn't help but think back on our journey as the sun began to set, putting a pleasant glow over the edifice. The difficulties, doubts, and sacrifices have all led us to this point of accomplishment. "We did it," I said quietly, my voice overflowing with joy. Kylie looped her arm through mine. "And this is just the beginning." Aviva nodded, her gaze fixed on the building that stood as a testament to our determination. "Let's make it a success, together. No distractions!” I felt a sense of success beyond anything I'd ever felt before. The hotel represented more than just bricks and cement; it represented my ambitions accomplished through hard work, friendship, and unshakable determination. I sighed. It hasn’t been an easy journey. I am prepared for future challenges and there’s one thing I’m sure of, whatever touches my hand turns gold. We are set. The hotel— Royal Enchanted Hotel ( REH) is ready. We’re open to hiring staff. The grand opening of our dream hotel was upon us, a culmination of our hard work and determination. But amidst the excitement and anticipation, an unspoken question hung in the air: What did the mysterious message mean for the future we were about to build?
