Let Me Try Again!

Zane

When I found out what needed to be done to save Elle, there was never a minute of hesitation. I would do anything for Elle if she died. Life wouldn’t be worth living . I already feel like I didn’t protect her enough. After all, she did all of this for me, knowing what the dangers were and didn’t hesitate. So this was a no-brainer. It didn’t matter what the dangers were, because the truth is, if she died, I would too. I needed to save her and if this was the only way to do it, then I’d do whatever it takes. I looked up at the older fairy ready to ask her what the process was, when the door flew open and a red-headed male ran in and looked wide-eyed.

Liam

What is wrong with her? What did you guys do to her? Who the f**k is this guy?

Arie

Liam, what are you doing here? You need to calm down and get out!

Liam

I deserve to know what’s going on with her! Why do you have this f*****g guy in here when he doesn’t even know her or belong to our pack? Did he do this to her? Get the f**k away from her?

Zane

I didn’t know who this fucker was but the sight of him immediately pissed me the f**k off. Then he tried rushing over to my mate and I lost it. I ran over towards him even before he could get next to her and threw him through the wall. He landed in the other room and there was a giant hole in the wall, but I didn’t care. I was going to kill him. The fact that he thought it was okay to question who I was and to think that he could get next to her sent me over the edge. I stalked over, grabbing him by the neck ready to crush his windpipe, when the older fairy screamed.

Mrs. Rose

Wait! Please don’t kill him, he.. He is one of Elle’s childhood friends. Please Zane.

Zane

I turned back to look at him, savoring the look of fear in his eyes. I wanted nothing more than to snuff the life out of them. f**k by now I was fighting hard to stop Knight from killing him. I threw him through the door of the other room, but not before Knight warned his wolf to stay away from Elle or else. I didn’t care if they were childhood friends. Elle was my mate and he would never get close to her again. After throwing him out, I walked back over to Elle. The older lady looked at me terrified. I didn’t kill him for your sake. Now tell me how to save my mate.

Mrs. Rose

Thank you Alpha Zane, for sparing him. I have to get the mixture together, which won’t take too long, and then we can go from there.

Zane

She walked over to the table and started making her concoction. The door burst open and in walked Talia and Allen. He was fully dressed in some clothes that were a bit too tight for him, but he genuinely looked happy. I was happy for him, happy that he had found his mate.

Talia

Zane, I really do want to apologize for being so irrational. I don’t know what I was thinking. I just thought I knew what was best for her, but obviously, I was wrong. Please forgive me for the way I have acted towards you. You are one of the best things to ever happen to Elle.

Zane

I respected her for owning up to her wrongdoings. I am glad that she isn’t as crazy as I initially thought that she was, especially since she would end up being the luna of my pack if something were to happen to me today. I needed to know that she would be a good leader. Thank you for your apology again Talia. It is actually a good thing you brought her back here. Honestly, I don’t think that my pack doctor could do as much for her as your pack is and if this actually works, then it would not have been in vain. Speaking of Allen, I wanted to officially ask you to take my place as alpha if this doesn't work and we don’t come back. He looked at me with a face of confusion.

Allen

If what doesn’t work?

Zane

I have to be placed in an almost comatose state in order to try to reach Elle and her wolf. If it works, we should be able to get her back, but there is a chance that it may not work and if that happens we could both never wake up. So, with that being said, I want you to take over my pack if we don’t make it. We grew up together. You know how everything works, how the pack runs, you are strong and more than capable of being Alpha.

Allen

I couldn’t think of being alpha because I couldn't think of losing my brother. I was always just fine with being second in command, being Zanes' back up and being there to help him. I couldn’t imagine him not being here to live the life that we dreamed of with our mates. It was too hard to imagine. This had to work. I couldn’t end like this for him. I looked up at him. I know he wanted an answer. Zane I can’t be the alpha of our pack. He looked at me brows knitted. I could see the look of hurt on his face. I can’t be the alpha, Zane, because you will still be the alpha. This has to work.

Zane

I know Allen, but if it doesn’t, I need you to promise me that you will do this. I mean I would hate to have Luca become Alpha even though he is capable of it if our pack would end up becoming well known for freaky orgies or some s**t instead of for our strength. We both laughed.

Allen

I will take care of the pack if you don’t wake up Zane, but please try your hardest to come back and bring Elle with you.

Zane

I will try my best and do everything I can.

Arie

Just the thought of not having them around made my heart hurt. I hoped this worked and Mrs. Rose knows what she is doing.

Liam

I was in the middle of f*****g Stacy since that is the only thing she was good for. I had her face down on the bed. I always pretended it was Elle when me and Stacy were together. It was the only thing that made me finish. I hated the fact that Stacy was my mate. She was lazy and self-centered. All she cared about was money and wanted all of the new and nice expensive things. It was driving me crazy and making me broke, but no matter how much I couldn’t stand her, I couldn’t resist this stupid mate bond. I always regret the day Elle found out about us. I always planned on marrying Elle one day. I was just going to keep Stacy a secret. That night at prom will forever be the worst mistake of my life.

I am with Stacy because of this stupid bond, but I actually loved Elle. I still do, and one day I will build up the courage to reject Stacy. My wolf growled at the thought he is the only reason why I haven’t done it yet, and the s*x, of course. But one day I will win Elle over, reject Stacy. I planned on marrying Elle. It’s what our parents wanted and what we wanted at one time too. I know she was just hurt and needed some time to forgive me. My body stiffened as I finished inside her. I had her put in an IUD because I didn’t want to procreate with her. I couldn't imagine my pups getting her personality and brains. The girl was dumber than a box of rocks.

She rolled over looking up at me lazily. She usually goes to sleep after we f****d and I went to my office to get work done to carry on my parent's business. I worked constantly. If I didn’t, we wouldn’t have anything. I couldn’t keep up with her spending. I pulled up my pants and started walking out of the room when I heard the sound of a helicopter. That was strange. I finished getting dressed and rushed out. When I made it outside, I saw Talia walking away with a naked man. What the f**k was going on? I walked over to a pack member and asked what was going on. That’s when they told me that Elle was in the hospital.

I didn’t hesitate to rush there, bursting through the doors. I needed to be by her side. But to my surprise, when I got in there, there was some random guy sitting next to her holding her. It f*****g pissed me off right away. I couldn’t believe Arie and Mrs. Rose let this happen. I should be the one by her side holding her. How could they let this happen and have a total stranger in here as a matter of fact did he do this to her? If he did, this would be his last day on this earth. I rushed over to her. Maybe if she heard my voice she would wake up. I will deal with this ass hole later. Before I could reach her, I was flying through the air and landed through the wall in the next room.

What the f**k just happened? I was dazed and confused. Before I knew it, I was grabbed by the throat and then the oxygen was slowly leaving my body. The same man that did this to my Elle was now trying to kill me. I tried to shift but my wolf wouldn't. It was as if he wasn’t listening to me. I felt weak and helpless. I tried repeatedly to get my wolf to respond. I need him to get out of this situation. It was pointless, as if he was gone. I heard a scream and looked over at Mrs. Rose helplessly. She pleaded for my life but the look in his eyes said otherwise. I have never seen a wolf with red eyes before. I knew for sure that her plea fell on deaf ears and I was going to be a dead man. But to my surprise, he let me go, by throwing me out of the door. I fell on to my back, rubbing my hand on the sore skin on my throat, trying to desperately get any amount of air I could into my now burning lungs. I wanted to challenge him but he seemed too strong and without my wolf I was useless. I got up feeling embarrassed and weak. How could I let this happen? How could my wolf abandon me when I needed him the most? I quickly made my way out of the hospital. When I got out of the doors I finally felt my wolf stir. What the f**k where were you back there when I needed you?

Cain

I couldn’t move or respond to you. His wolf had me under full control. He is way more powerful than I am. He is higher ranked than a delta. His wolf did some mind-control thing. He is very protective of Elle; he warned that we should stay away from her or he would kill us both! I never back down from a fight, but this time I think this is a fight we can’t win, Liam.

Liam

Hearing Cain's words made me even more mad. How could he control my wolf? Was he more than a wolf? And why did he care so much about Elle?

Cain

He cares so much about Elle because he is her mate! We already have ours and I think we should stay away.

Liam

Hearing that she was his mate made me want to go on a killing spree. I shifted into Cain and made my way back to my house. I shifted back to my human form and entered. I was so angry that I started ripping everything apart. Stacy came running out of the room looking terrified she needed to get out of my way before I hurt her. She was the cause of all of this. She is the reason why I wasn’t with the love of my life. I hated her. She came rushing over to my side trying to figure out what was wrong. I wanted her out of my life. I wanted to reject her so badly, but my stupid wolf wouldn’t let me. I ran out of the house and headed to my car. I needed to get rid of her so that I could focus on getting back with Elle and I knew just the way to do it. Cain growled in my head, I f*****g hated him for being so weak and pathetic. So weak that he couldn’t reject f*****g Stacy and couldn’t stand up to Elle’s mate. I pushed him to the back of my mind, started the car and sped out of the pack lands.

Mrs. Rose

I finally finished the potion for Zane to drink. It was a potion that most couldn’t drink and survive unless they were strong. Zane would have no problem. I could tell that he was as powerful as everyone said. This potion was mixed with fairy essence. Elle’s, to be exact, it was the only way for him to connect with her now and to get through to her. Her wolf side had completely retreated, and her fairy side was dominant. Only the mate of a fairy can take their essence and survive. Fairy essence is sacred to them and most never share it with their mates, but in this situation, we didn’t have a choice. I explained to Zane what he needed to do, to reach her, and when he found her they needed to find her wolf and take her out of the darkness and into the light.

Her wolf is probably hurt or drained or went through a major change after healing so many people at one time, at the brink of death. The reason why Elle was such a strong healer is because both her fairy and Wolf had this power and that is the only reason why she could save so many at one time. Regular healers would only be able to heal one or two people at a time. Elle was truly one of a kind. We needed to save her wolf and get her back to good health. I needed to figure out how to send a healing potion with Zane. He needed to feed it directly to Amethyst.

This should bring her back. I made an old ancient fairy charm in hopes that the potion would be able to go with him. I made him drink some of my healing potion also just in case this was too hard on his body this should help bring him back. Zane nodded. He moved his body closer to Elle on the bed while sitting up. I handed him the mixture. He drank it without a flinch, then he laid down next to Elle and closed his eyes. I sent up a prayer hoping that they both make it back to us.

Zane

I drank the potion without hesitation. The older fairy said that it didn’t taste great and was hard to stomach, but it tasted great to me. It tasted like coconut and vanilla, just like how Elle smelled to my wolf. I lay next to her and was immediately transported to the most beautiful place I have ever seen. The grass was greener than any I had ever seen before. There were flowers and a waterfall with a blue lake. There were pixies flying around? Where was this? Is where Elle was? What was this place called? I saw a path and followed it. We were trying to pick up her scent at this point so that we could find her faster. I kept following the path and soon Knight perked up.

Knight

I could sense her wolf but it was faint. This wasn’t good, Zane.

Zane

By this time I was running, I needed to get to them and fast. I know Mrs. Rose said to find Elle first, but if I found her wolf first, I could have Knight communicate with her to find where Elle is. I kept going until I came to the entrance of a cave. It was dimly lit but with Knight's vision, I would be able to see. As we got closer to the cave, her scent hit me like a freight train. She was in here. I could feel it and Knight could too. I started calling her name as their scents got stronger and stronger.

Elle

I sat holding Amethyst while sobbing. This was the first time I had ever seen her so weak. I didn’t know how to help her. I thought the pink glow might help so I tried that but it didn’t do much. I decided to try to heal her like I did for everyone else. It should work since I had the power from both my wolf and fairy side. I tried using a healing orb like earlier but it didn’t work. I guess that may have been from amethyst. So I used my healing light to let it flow through her. Still nothing, maybe I couldn’t heal myself. How messed up was that I could heal everyone else, but not my wolf half. I sat here in frustration waiting for the darkness to consume me when Amethyst died. If she died, I assumed I would have to since I was a hybrid. I think I needed both halves. Besides, I didn't want to live a life without her. She was who made me complete and who I am.

How could I go on being an alpha with no wolf? I rubbed amethyst fur. She was so soft and beautiful. I was deep in my thoughts about what death would feel like. I didn’t realize that there was a faint sound coming from the opening of the cave. Was I going crazy? Did my brain make this up? I ignored it. I was clearly hearing things and without Amethyst my hearing wasn’t as sharp as it usually was. I continued stroking her head and that's when I heard it again. It started getting closer and closer, then I finally heard my name being called by the voice that I longed so badly to hear. Z..Zane, I called out. I didn’t think it was real. I had to be hallucinating at this point. But to my surprise, the voice replied saying my name again.

Even if I was hallucinating this time, I didn’t care if this is what dying was, at least I would get to see him one last time. I rushed in the direction of the voice and soon I saw his handsome face standing in front of me. I ran towards him, throwing my arms around his neck. The tears ran down my cheek as he held on to me. I longed to be in his arms so much and now here he is I couldn’t believe it was really him. I needed to know if this was real or just a figment of my imagination. I pulled away and kissed him like it was going to be the last time, because it probably was and, to my surprise, he kissed me like he was never going to see me again either. The sparks were not as strong as they usually were without Amethyst, but it was enough to give me butterflies. I came up for air. I had so many questions but he cut me off.

Zane

I know you have lots of questions and I promise to answer them when we get out of here. We don't have the time we need to save your wolf, we need to find her. Do you know where she is? Tears welled up in her eyes and I feared the worst.

Elle

S..she’s dying, Zane and I don’t know how to save her.

Zane

I know how to save her. We need to get her out there. I pointed towards the entrance of the cave. She looked at me with hope in her eyes and started heading further into the cave. Soon she stopped and got down on the ground and that's when I saw her, the most beautiful and enchanting wolf I have ever seen. She was pure white with gold markings. It was like nothing I had ever seen before.

Elle

I can’t get her to move. Her breathing is getting more and more shallow as time goes on.

Zane

I leaned down and gently picked up her wolf. She let out a small whimper and nudged me with her nose, then hung her head limply as I quickly carried her out to the light. Elle wasted no time following me. We finally made it out of the cave and I gently placed her down on the soft grass. I reached into my pocket for the healing potion that the older fairy said would be there but it wasn’t. f**k what was I going to do now? Knight was on the verge of losing it. His mate was dying in front of him and he didn’t know how to save her. Elle looked at me helplessly.

Elle

What do we do now, Zane?

Zane

I was supposed to give her a healing potion made by the older fae lady in your pack, but I don’t think she was able to send it with me.

Elle

Mrs. Rose helped you to get here? How?

Zane

So her name was Mrs. Rose, I thought to myself. I looked at her and she gave me a mixture to help me reach your fairy side. It was a mixture of herbs and your fairy essence. She also made me drink her healing potion just in case I got hurt or needed help healing also.

Elle

So what do we do now?

Zane

I don’t know but I will try my hardest to figure it out, Elle, to save us. I didn’t want her to know that if we didn’t both make it out we would both die. I mind linking Knight. Can you talk to her wolf now, Knight?

Knight

No, I still can’t she has a block up as if she is saving whatever little life or energy she has. But I think I have an idea. It’s crazy but I am desperate at this point and need to save us. Do you trust me, Zane?

Zane

I can’t believe I am saying this, but yes, I trust you Knight. After I said those words, I let Knight take partial control and soon my claws elongated. Soon, he sat down next to Elle’s wolf and placed her head in his lap, then he slit my wrist with his sharp claws, he opened her mouth and let the drops of blood fall in. Knight, what are you doing? How do you think this would work?

Knight

Mrs. Rose had us drink the healing potion that is in our system, so maybe this might get some into her.

Zane

We all watched on hoping that it would work. It was our last resort. If this didn’t work we would both never come back. I kept looking at Amethyst hoping to see any signs of movement, but she didn’t seem to be responding to it. Soon I felt like I was being pulled out of this place and everything around me started to fade: the grass, water fall, pixies. Maybe we ran out of time, and this was the end I reached for Elle and pulled her close. I hoped we would both be together for eternity.

Talia

We all waited on pins and needles for any signs of them coming back. It felt like hours; it was now dark outside and still nothing. No improvement in Elle’s condition. We were starting to lose hope, even Mrs. Rose had a worried look on her face. I looked at Allen. He had a look of concern on his face. I wasn’t only losing my best friend, he was losing his. He pulled me close to him as we all looked on quietly. Soon there was a stir. Zane's closed eyes started to move. Allen rushed to his side and he sat up like the undertaker and called out her name, Elle. He was breathing rapidly, looking around the room and then down at Elle. He looked at Mrs. Rose

Zane

The potion wasn't there.

Talia

Mrs. Rose burst into tears. Oh no child, I am so sorry. I… how could it not have worked? Oh my poor Elle, I am so sorry. Arie and I were in tears now along with Mrs. Rose. I was about to lose my best friend and there was nothing we could do about it.

Zane

Send me back make the drink again. I will try again! I will try a million times if I have to!

Mrs. Rose

I can’t send you back. I can’t keep draing her essence. It will kill her faster. I am sorry. If you went back again, it will likely kill this time also.

Zane

Well, then do it without the essence I still have in me. It should still work. Please, I need to try again. Knight almost saved her. I know we can do it this time with the potion.

Talia

Zane jumped out of bed and headed to the area where Mrs. Rose mixes her concoctions. Our eyes snapped in his direction. He was like a mad man on a mission.

Zane

I’ll make it myself. Just tell me what to do. I promised her that I would save her and I would do anything, even if I meant that I would die in order for her to live.

Talia

Zane started moving things around frantically and yelling at Mrs. Rose to help him. We all looked on in sadness. Allen started walking over to him to try to talk him into accepting her fate, but his eyes glowed red and he growled so loudly I am sure the whole pack heard him. Allen raised his hand in surrender and backed away. And that’s when we heard it. A faint voice

Elle

Why is everyone so sad and why is it so loud in here?

Talia

We all looked over in the direction of the voice we all longed to hear. She was rubbing her head like she had a headache and looking confused.

Elle

Why do you all look like you have seen a ghost?
