Summit Part 1: Neanderthals

3610 Words
Elle When we walked in, the chatter immediately stopped; they all looked up at us one by one. Immediately, the head Elder at the head of the table, I am assumed to be Elder Jackson, spoke up. Elder Jackson Ladies, I am sorry you entered the wrong room; this is a men-only meeting. Elle Is this not the meeting for the high-ranking pack members during the Alpha summit? Elder Jackson Ah yes, you ladies must be the waitresses for the weekend. Fellas, give them your drink orders. Elle I am afraid that you are mistaken, Elder Jackson. We are here for the meeting just like everyone else here. Elder Jackson What do you mean? Last I checked, there are no females on the RSVP list. And certainly, there are no female alphas. You are not a high-ranking member of any pack, so I suggest you leave before you get yourself into serious trouble. Elle Wrong again, my name is Elle White, the new alpha of the Sapphire pack; this is my beta Talia and gamma Arie. Elder Jackson Have you three lost your minds? The alpha of the sapphire pack is Alpha Desmond White. Elle I guess your Neanderthal brains are not smart enough to make the connection, so I'll spell it out for you. My name is Elle White, the daughter of Desmond and Iris White. Notice how the last names match? I am now the new Alpha of the sapphire pack because they were both killed 3 years ago. How could you not have figured this out? I told you my last name is White, just like theirs, but clearly, your dumb macho brain cannot compute that fast enough. Elder Jackson That can't be correct. Alpha Desmond never had a child. Elle That's where you're wrong again. I am their one and only child that they kept hidden from the world, and I'm here to claim my rightful place as Alpha of the Sapphire Pack to carry on my father's Legacy. Elder Jackson Well, I'm sorry to break it to you, little girl, but according to wolf law, females are not allowed to be alphas. Elle See Mr. Jackson, for the past three years, since my parents passed, I have done nothing but train from sunup to sundown and study wolf law. And I happen to know that there is no actual law in the book stating that women cannot be Alpha. Secondly, In Section three, Article five states that all firstborns have a right to their birthright; it never specifies whether they have to be born male or female. I am their firstborn, they're only born, as a matter of fact, and it's my birthright to be the alpha of the Sapphire Pack. Just like it’s theirs to be beta and gamma Elder Blake Jackson, she is correct; there are no laws written in the books banning women as high-ranking members. Traditionally we do not allow it, and it is never questioned. This is why we couldn't do anything to the Crimson Moon pack when they appointed a female delta. There are no official laws against this. It is just frowned upon, so no alpha has ever given their firstborn daughter the position of Alpha. It is usually given to a brother if the alpha is deceased or the firstborn son when he becomes of age. Elle I love the look of shock and all of their faces; freaking idiots never took the time out to actually study their own history and laws. Whoever this other Elder was, I could see us being really good friends. There were murmurs throughout the room. All of them were complaining about women being at their sausage fest of a meeting. Elder Jackson You can't be serious right now, Blake; this is how it starts first. A female Delta, now you want us to accept a female Alpha, and what's next, a female on the elder Council? I will not stand for any of this! Elder Blake Well, you have no choice, Jackson. The laws and rules are put in place for a reason. If you didn't like it, you should have worked on changing it, but now it's too late. There's nothing you can do about it. These young ladies deserve to be in this room just as much as anyone else. Elder Jackson I blame Alpha Alexander for this with his progressive pack. If he didn't appoint a female as his delta, these other women wouldn't even think about assuming a high-ranking position. Where is he, anyway? Alpha Thoma It seems as though he's running a bit late; maybe he might not even make it today at all. Elder Blake And how do you know this, Alpha Thomas? Alpha Thomas Some of my men told me that it seemed as though they were having some car trouble on the way here. Elle Alpha Thomas was a smug son of a b***h. He seemed to be in his late 30s, but something about him made me want to punch him in the face. The way he talked about Alpha Alexander pissed me off. Something was off with him, and I would be the one to find out what it was. I mind-linked Talia and Arie. Remind me not to make an alliance with this asshole. Talia (Via mind link) Seems like the only person worthy of an alliance is Alpha Alexander, and he's not even here this time. Elder Jackson Well, since you want to take on the role of being Alpha, tell us about your pack; where are you guys located? How many members are there? Come to think of it, wasn't Luna Iris Fairy? Doesn't that make you a hybrid? Hybrids are Abominations and should not be alive. That makes sense of why Alpha Desmond hid your identity; he was ashamed of you! Of his mistake! Elle I officially hated Elder Jackson. I wanted to shift into amethyst and rip that stupid smile off his face, but I had to play it cool. I knew that they were going to do this is what Mrs. Rose prepared us for. If you must know Elder Jackson, my pack is located in Northern California, just about 4 hours away from here; we consist of 1000 numbers. Yes, Luna Iris was a fairy, and yes, I am a half-fairy and a hybrid, but I'm not an abomination. I believe that being a hybrid makes me even more special than being just a wolf. As a matter of fact, we are all hybrids. Talia is half Werebear, half wolf, and Arie is half wolf and part Encantado. Our pack is a mixture of hybrids, wolves, and fairies. Everyone lives in unison. Some of the fairies even turned out to be the mates of the Wolves. If the supernatural world were more open-minded and inclusive, there would be fewer wars and more treaties being made. And my father didn't hide me away because he was embarrassed; he hid me away because of people like you, people who are hateful and want to see people like me dead. But I have news for you and anyone else out there who thinks that they're going to intimidate us. We are not scared; we will no longer be intimidated. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Things are going to change around here, whether you like it or not. Elder Jackson Is that a threat, young lady? Elle No, it's a promise, old man! And that goes for any of you in this room who think that we do not belong here. Alpha Jackson said nothing more, but if looks could kill, we would be dead. The room was quiet, and you could hear a pin drop. There was so much tension you could cut it with a knife. It didn’t matter what any of them thought. We weren’t going anywhere. The Sapphire Pack is here to stay! ********************* Zane My growl shook the trees. They injected my ranked members with wolfsbane? Little do they know that it has no effect on me! Now they would die in the most inhumane ways. I shifted back into my human form. I needed hands for this. I ripped out the throat of the warrior who tried to inject me and fed it to him. I ran over to the other warriors who injected Kiera, Luca and Allen, and Owen and shredded them limb by limb. The last two warriors looked on in horror, and now it was their turn. I grabbed a tree branch, and with one swift move, I shoved it down his throat, impaling him. It came out of the other end, along with his bowels and intestines. I saved the best for last. It was the head warrior, and he was going to be my prize. I extended my claws, and with one clean cut, I beheaded him. His body fell limp to his knees before falling to the ground. I held his head up in my hand, declaring victory to my other warriors, then I mind-linked the pack doctors to get the hospital rooms prepared for Kiera, Luca, Allen, and Owen. The warriors helped to carry them to the hospital, and the doctors immediately started treatment. There is no cure for wolfsbane, but the doctors would first start by cleaning their blood and getting it out of their system. Then they would inject a special formula made by my pack scientist from the antidote in my blood to see if this would turn things around. It just had to. I couldn’t lose them, not now, not this way. The Alpha of the Black Mountain pack will pay for this. I stayed at the hospital until the doctors said that they were all stable. It was now 1 am on Sunday morning, but I couldn’t rest. I had to make sure to come up with a game plan. After making sure that there were no casualties from the attack. I called a meeting with my warriors. I wanted two guards in each room at the hospital at all times. I needed them to ramp up security and pack patrols. I then called a meeting with my special forces team. After the plan was in motion. I went up to my room and took a shower; it was now 2 am. I was getting ready to attend that alpha summit today. This time I would be flying in with the helicopter. It is much faster, and I wanted to be there bright and early Sunday morning in the conference room. I packed my suit in a garment bag. I mind-linked the pilot that I would be there soon and met him at the helipad, and got in. We arrived and landed at the top of the hotel. I got off and took the elevator down to the lobby. On the way down, I was hit with her scent again. The tropical scent that drove me wild appeared to be getting stronger and stronger the lower I got. I must be losing my mind, I thought. I shook it off and stepped out of the elevator to meet with the receptionist. Receptionist Oh, Mr. Alexander, you will be on the top floor in the penthouse suite. Don’t hesitate to ask for anything. I will personally see to it that you get it. Zane Just make sure not to mention that I am here to anyone. Receptionist Okay, I won’t say a word. I promise it will be our little secret. Zane She flashed me a smile and giggled as I walked away. She mumbled about how she wouldn’t mind doing other things in secret. I shook my head and got on the elevator again. ********************* Elle The rest of the day was filled with tension and all of the alphas complaining about other supernatural creatures. They wanted to eradicate vampires and fairies for good. Then control the rest of the supernatural world by having everyone else live under their laws and rules. They believed that wolves were superior to any other being. Some also wanted to get rid of humans as they wanted to live freely and not have to hide their identities any longer. They went on to talk about how many members their packs had gained since the last year and ways they will continue to keep their pack “traditional.” Alpha Thomas especially thought that it was not right for women to question their mates and position in the pack. In fact, he stated that his Luna was only allowed to plan the events for the pack and cater to his needs. She has no say in anything pack related whatsoever. He made sure to mention how women should know their places and men needed to establish where that place is. He had a huge smile on his face while looking at me, Arie and Talia. And I wanted nothing more than to use my fairy magic on them and have them beg me to spare their lives. They all discussed new laws that they would want to establish, with Alpha Jackson mentioning that the law about women not having any rights needs to be officially placed in the books. They even talked about Alpha Alexander and about how he was giving women the wrong ideas by having a female delta. I looked at the four empty chairs and cursed under my breath. I wish alpha Alexander was here; his pack would be the only one I would ever make an alliance with. Something in the back of my mind kept telling me that something wasn’t right. The reason for them not showing up today. Car trouble was a stupid excuse. I believed that Alphas Thomas knew more than he was letting on. Time seemed to drag on. I presented my points on why it was important for women to have a say in the pack business. I even talked about the mistreatment of hybrids in the supernatural world. Finally, it was 5 pm, and the meeting was finished for the day. Tomorrow will be the voting on any proposals and also the day to make or break alliances. On my way out, we heard whispers from the other alphas about how something needed to be done or, soon, women would be taking over the summit. Elder Blake caught up with us outside of the conference room. Elder Blake Ladies, you were very impressive in there. You held your own and stood up for what you thought was right. You know your dad rarely attended these things. He was a good one. I am so sorry for your loss. Just know that you have my support. Elle We thanked him for his kind words, and with that, he walked away. Sighing, I turned to Talia and Arie, and we headed upstairs to our rooms. We ordered room service and talked about the events of the day. Arie At least we tried Elle, and that’s all that matters. We made history today as the first female alpha, beta, and gamma to ever attend the summit. We will be an example for other women in the future, and soon we will be able to make changes for all women and hybrids. Talia All I know is that someone needs to shut Alpha Thomas up because if he says one more snarky comment while looking in our direction, I will rip his d**k off and feed it to him! It probably won’t be hard to swallow because it is so little anyway. Stupid son of a b***h. I don’t understand how his mate hasn’t rejected him yet; what a sexist pig! Elle We talked for the rest of the night, coming to the conclusion that we would not be forming an alliance with anyone at this summit. As they are all misogynistic assholes. We will try to convince them to accept women and hybrids, though I don’t think we will get our message across because they refuse to be open-minded. We decided to call it a night, and Arie and Talia headed to their rooms. I changed into my pajamas and headed to bed. I was exhausted since I barely slept the night before and just how draining and exhausting today was. I finally fell into a comfortable sleep when I was awakened by Amethyst. Amethyst, what’s going on? Amethyst I don’t know, Elle. I just can’t get comfortable. Can we maybe go up to the rooftop and look at the city at night? Elle It was a strange request by Amethyst, but she would never ask if it wasn’t important to her. I looked at the time; it was almost 3 am. I sighed and sat up. I put on a hoodie and headed toward the elevator. ******************** Zane The elevator started moving up towards the twentieth floor when the button lit up for a stop on the tenth floor. When the elevator doors opened, I was hit with the strongest scent of my mate! Knight started to go crazy, pacing in my head. Is she really here, or is my imagination running wild? I waited for the person who hit the button to get on, but no one did. I contemplated in my mind if I should get off on this floor in search of the source of this intoxicating scent. Curiosity got the best of me, and I got off on the 10th floor, walking past each room to see where the scent was coming from. I kept following it until the scent became stronger and stronger, and then I was standing in front of the room where it was the strongest. Knight was convinced that our mate was behind that door. I hope that she was, too, because how crazy would it look if a stranger was knocking at someone's door at 3 a.m? I decided to go for it. I knocked and waited for her to answer, but there was no response. I walked away feeling defeated. I got on the elevator again, and this time her scent almost knocked me over. What is going on? Why can I smell her when she isn't even here? I hit the 20th-floor button and got off at my floor. I got out and used my room key to get into my suite. I set my belongings down. Knight, are you sure she was here? Knight Yes, Zane, she is here. I can feel it. I can sense her wolf! Zane That’s all the answer I needed. I rushed over to the door and headed out; if she was here somewhere, I would find her! This was my only chance. ******************** Elle I headed towards the elevator and pushed the button, but then I realized that I had forgotten my phone as I wanted to take pictures of the scenery. I rushed back to the room and grabbed it; then, I ran out. I used the other way towards the elevators because it was shorter. I pushed the button for the roof, and when the doors opened, I was hit with the strongest mouthwatering scent of lemongrass, frost berry, and vanilla. My breath hitched my knees, went weak, and I had to hold on to the side of the elevator for support. Amethyst is going crazy in my head. She's never acted that way except for that one time when we got lost in those mesmerizing gray eyes. I shook off the thought the odds of him being here were very unlikely. I waited for the elevator to reach the roof, and I got off. There I found the cutest little bench and looked at the view. Isn’t it beautiful, Amethyst? Amethyst? What has gotten into you? Last time I checked, you were the one who begged me to come out here; now you won’t even enjoy the scenery? If you don’t answer me soon, Amethyst, I’m going back in and heading to bed. Zane I got on the elevator and stopped on every floor, starting from the 20th floor. When I got to the lobby, the receptionist was still there. She had a huge smile on her face and waved when she saw me. I got back on the elevator and decided to head to the one place left to check the roof! I got to the twentieth floor, and Knight started pacing again. I was close. She was definitely on the roof. When I started heading up the stairwell, her scent hit me like a ton of bricks. I started sprinting, taking the stairs two at a time. Elle I decided that I would take a few pictures and then go back to my room. This is the first time I have been actually annoyed at Amethyst. Why ask to come out here just to ignore me? I took some pictures of the view of the city lights and then angrily turned around and stormed towards the door. I couldn’t believe she would do this to me. I angrily opened the door and, without looking, walked face-first into the rock-hard chest that almost knocked me off of my feet. But I was quickly caught by his strong arms. The tingles on my skin erupted again wherever he touched me, and I was then hit with his scent, the same one from earlier in the elevator that made my knees weak. Thank God he was holding me up. Then I looked up into his eyes, and they were the gray orbs I found so mesmerizing; it was him, and then Amethyst finally said the words I never thought I would hear, MATE!!
