Me: We're fine.
Sam: When are you coming back?
Me: Tomorrow. Martin has an important meeting. I pause. And how are you and the baby?
Sam: Don't even get me started, girl. We're fine, just eating rice and oranges. She laughs. I can't remember the last time I had good pasta or anything else.
Me: At least you can still eat.
Sam: And you and Martin? Are you trying for a baby?
Me: I'm not sure if the word "trying" fits. We're letting things happen, especially since I'll soon be back in New York.
Sam: I miss it there, but I still don't know if Hendrick will continue with the family business.
Me: If you want, you can visit me. I hear Hendrick calling her.
