Sandra and I had just gotten back from downtown.
I decided to take a shower; it was unbearably hot, and the heat was making me feel nauseous.
Stepping into the shower, I let the cold water cascade over my body. I needed to cool down. As I stood there, I felt a slight cramp—confirmation that I wasn’t pregnant. I sighed. I really wanted to have another child with Henry. We’d been trying, but so far, nothing. Maybe it was just too soon.
It had been almost four weeks since Sam and Hendrick left for their honeymoon in Canada. In a month, it would be Henry’s birthday, and in a month and a half, our wedding. I wasn’t too worried about the “party,” since the guest list was so small you could count the attendees on one hand. Still, I wanted to wait for Sam to help me with the details.
