I could see the confusion in her eyes.
It was either she understood perfectly what I meant but found it hard to believe or she was just just oblivious to me.
I chuckled in defeat and a slice of pain before looking away from her. All these words from me tonight and it was as if I never said anything to her at all.
"I— we should start heading back now," she muttered when she finally found her voice.
I sighed heavily. I had hoped that we would spend the rest of the day together, in each other's arms but even that seemed impossible now.
It was too much to ask of her.
I exhaled sharply, reluctant to part ways so soon. I had begun to believe that she was what I had been waiting for since my attack.
