~The Pack~

Chapter 10:

I watch the pack from a nearby tree. They were all gathered together, listening to their Alpha, Shawn. His deep voice powerfully booms throughout their site and the entire woods. "I gave pretty specific instructions tonight!" He growls. "Where the hell is the girl!?" He demands. The pack begins to whisper and mumble amongst themselves.

"Quiet!" He orders raising a hand. Everyone instantly shuts up. "If you don't confess, you know what we have to do." He warns. Silence. Shawn laughs and shrugs. "Okay, but don't say I didn't warn you." He steps back clearly amused.

"Willie". He calls out. I furrow my eyebrows. Willie steps out of the pack and into the center of the circle. He bows his head. "Where is Whisper?" Shawn questions. Willie lifts his head up firmly and answers, "I don't know". Shawn laughs again. "I'm going to ask again, please don't lie to me." Shawn speaks losing patience. "I don't know." He sticks to the same answer.

Shawn steps back, turns around, and snaps his fingers. Two strong guys from the pack quickly grab Willie's arms unexpectedly. Chase and another guy step in front of Willie. "Now we won't stop until you or someone else tells us where Whisper is." Shawn replies simply. Chase takes a harsh blow at Willie. Willie grunts loudly. After this Chase and the other guy take turns punching Willie repeatedly. Willie groans in pain. I gasp. "Where is she Willie!? We're wolves! Nothing nor no-one should escape from right under our damn noses!" The Alpha states angrily.

I watch in horror and pain. Shawn puts up a hand. Chase and the other guy stop. "Willie....come on man. Nobody likes pain this much. You just met the girl, you can't be in-love with her already." Shawn teases. Willie stares at him breathing heavily. Shawn nods clearly aggravated. His hand balls into a fist and punches him straight in the jaw. Willie's head jerks to the side. I winch at the sight.

"Now I won't stop until you confess. If you don't, you're as good as dead bud. You'll choke on your own blood before I let you stand up without telling me where the hell that damn girl is!" Shawn threatens. He pulls back to strike again, but I can't keep watching this.

"Stop!" I shout running into the scene. "I'm here! I'm here!" I scream. "Just don't hit him again. Don't hurt him." I plead running towards Willie. Shawn gives the signal to the two guys who were holding Willie. They drop him. Willie spits out blood and wipes his mouth. I kneel down and caress his bruised cheek. "I'm sorry." I apologize.

His light brown eyes look into mine. He mouths the words "It's okay".

"Well, well." I hear Shawn laugh. I sigh through my nose and clench my jaw. "I want to join the pack." I declare standing up and dusting myself off after a few minutes of silence. I turn around to face the Alpha. His eyebrows rise in surprise. "Really? I thought you had to go back to your old life." He reminds in a mocking tone.

"There's nothing left back there. Not for me, not anymore. I'm all in. I want to become a full wolf." I announce. He nods in acceptance. "Let's give it up for Whisper!" He orders. Everyone begins to clap. Chase smiles widely, Veronica forces herself to clap, and Emmett shows no emotion. I find myself staring into Emmett's hazel eyes for longer than usual. His gaze lingers as well. Aware of this, I rip my gaze away and instead look towards Willie. He claps through the pain. I offer an apologetic smile. Shawn claps as well nodding towards me in approval.
