What felt like forever, he finally set me down, balancing myself on my leg as his hand slowly slid down my back to my waist. "Alright, you can open your eyes now," he said while looking towards somewhere.

I softly opened my eyes, blinking a few times.

I raised my head towards him, by then he was already staring at me.

We stood there in silence for a while staring into each other's eyes. An awkward social butterfly, I easily get flustered, but I did not know what was wrong with me on that day. Normally, I wouldn't even be able to make eye contact with anyone, but today I find myself getting distracted by his beautiful dark eyes.

I could feel myself sink into his gaze.

Our silent glances were broken as we heard a rustling behind the trees, turning our attention towards where the noise was coming from. He immediately moved his hands away from my waist and placed himself in front of me, ready to defend us from whatever was lurking in the darkness of the small woods.

"Stay behind me" he said in a low voice, which sounded like a demand to me.

I couldn't disobey his words for some reason, and I didn't want to.

As I stood behind him, I couldn't help but think of the rumors that had quickly spread throughout all the nations, and how wrong they were. It had not even been a day since we had met, it was too early to make any assumptions, but I felt a deep connection between the both of us, like a bond.

The tension between our silent moments and the sparks in our silent gazes and glances. The tension of us eager to say something but none of us were able to utter a single word. Our gazes and glances at each other speak louder than words and shares or feelings at the moment, it's as if we pour our emotions on one another.

In these short nights, as the moon shines magically upon us, it makes me think there are many more nights like such to come.

What is actually hidden in the dark forest? I wondered as a squirrel jumped out of it's hiding spot.

"How can such a small animal make such a loud noise?" I wondered aloud.
