The next morning, I woke up with only one thought in my mind: Alondra. I knew that after everything that had happened, I needed to see her, make sure she was okay, and, most of all, be by her side. I couldn’t imagine my day without her. I stopped by a flower shop and picked out a bouquet of white roses—elegant and pure, just like her. I also bought a box of chocolates I saw on the counter, thinking she might like them. When I arrived at her building, I climbed the stairs calmly, trying to keep my nervousness in check.
