The hallway doors opened before me, and I paused for a moment before stepping inside. The sight of Alondra in that hospital bed, so fragile and vulnerable, froze me in place. A cold chill ran through my body, and for a moment, I couldn’t breathe. I approached her bed slowly, my hands trembling as I took hers in mine, yet the words wouldn’t come. I could only stare at her pale face and wonder if all of this was truly real. There I was, my breathing shallow, watching as time seemed to stop.
