The Start

“Are you having fun?” Emily yells over the music. “Yes, I need another drink though you want anything?” I ask before heading over to the bar. “No Im good” Emily keeps dancing while I go grab another drink, Ill probably regret it in the morning but I’m here to have fun. I get back to her with my drink in hand and begin dancing when I see my brother on the other side of the room with his best friend. I haven’t seen either of them in a while. “Hey Emily, Dustin my brother is here with his roommate you want to go say hi with me?” She nods and follows me over to where they are standing. “Hey you” I say as I give my brother a big hug. “How have you been?” I ask but he just shrugs. He’s like me and usually doesn’t go out to clubs, I am a little curious why he’s here. Emily has never met his best friend,so I introduce them. “Emily this is my brothers best friend Scott, Scott this is my best friend Emily” I introduce. They shake hands, as I ask “Why are yall at a club? This isn’t your normal hangout.” “Oh Dustin is meeting a girl here.” Scott replies. Wow I haven’t really seen my brother date much so its weird to hear that he came to a club to meet a girl. “Well what are you going to do when she gets here?” I ask Scott since he didn’t mention anything about him. “I haven’t even thought that far ahead, I guess I’ll just head out when she gets here.” I’ll admit I’ve always had a crush on Scott, he’s a very handsome man and he’s always been super nice to me. I take this opportunity to see if I can hang out with him without my brother. “Well you can always stay and hang out with us, if you want to.” I reply, hoping he will say yes. I was excited when he didn’t even have to think about it before saying “Yes”. I didn’t want to make it completely obvious how happy I was, but I couldn’t help but have a huge smile on my face. It had been a few hours since my brother and his date had left. Emily had also called it a night about 30 min ago. Normally she wouldn’t leave me alone at a club, but Scott had told her he would make sure he got me home safe. I’ve known him for years so I reassured her it would be fine if she needed to leave. “The club is closing soon; do you want another drink or close out our tabs?” I asked Scott over the loud music. “I guess I’ll just close out my tab, I’m driving you home I shouldn’t drink anymore.” He all but yelled. So we make our way over to the bar to close out our tabs, when I feel someone grab me from behind. I look down to see a hand around my waist, as I’m being pulled backwards. I stumble back almost falling, I’m wearing heels and a little tipsy so standing wasn’t that easy walking forwards. All of a sudden I feel a hand on my arm pulling me forward and I end up in a chest, when I look up I see Scotts face. “Are you ok?” He askes me. All I can do is shake my head yes, before I see him swing hitting a man right in the jaw. He leads me to the bar, closing out our tabs and asking for a glass of ice to put some on his hand. “Thank you” I’m still a little shaken up but glad he was there to protect me. We head to my apartment, Scott has never been there so thank god for GPS because there is no way I can give him directions. It’s only about 15 min from the club so we are there in no time, but I can still barely walk and I’m on the second floor. Scott helps me upstairs and makes sure I can get to bed before he turns to leave. “Could you stay for a little while, I’m still a little shaken up about that guy tonight.” I ask him, scared he’s going to say no. To my surprise he turns back around before responding “of course.”
