Chapter 33
Aaron is riddled with guilt. All he wants is to protect Jane and make her happy, but now, everyone is breaking her because of him. This never should have happened if he wasn’t so desperate to be with her and spend time with her. He should have followed his instincts before and stayed the hell away from her. He is not making her life better. He is making it worse.
Aaron kneels with her and helps her pick up the pieces of her book. “I’m sorry, Jane. It’s all because of me. I’m sorry you have to go through all of these because of me.”
She does not answer this time. Instead, she just kept picking her papers up.
Aaron gets ahold of the first few pages of her story, and the words catch his eyes.
