Chapter 41
Aaron has been distracted all morning. He hasn’t been able to take Jane and her child from his mind after delivering his speech for the opening ceremonies. Maybe the audience does not notice his momentary lapses, but Bella surely has. She is bound to ask questions later. But Aaron is not worried about that. What he needs now are answers, and he needs to find a way to get them quick. During his speech, he couldn’t help staring at the young boy, thinking about how he astoundingly resembles Aaron in his younger years. The boy is watching him with curious eyes and is intently listening to his speech.
“Is everything all right, Aaron?” Bella asks beside him. “You seem distracted.”
“I’m fine,” he answers absentmindedly.
“Maybe we should go. Let’s...”
