Chapter 46
“Bye, mom. See you later,” Eddie waves Jane goodbye as she drops him off at the gates. Jane is beginning to think that Eddie is enjoying this state of independence. Children, indeed, grow up too fast. It won’t be long before he becomes a teenager, and then he won’t need her anymore. Jane feels sad at that thought. If only she can stop time and keep Eddie as he is now.
Just as she is heading towards the orphanage, her phone rings with a call from an unknown number.
'Who can be calling her at this hour?'
Maybe it is Bob Taylor. Perhaps he is about to give her more instructions about her new job at the W Publishing.
“Hello?” she answers.
