“YERA!!!”
I shout with all that I have. Khethiwe is right behind me and you can hear him HISS in disapproval. He is close. Very close… My legs feel like jelly. My chest is burning with effort… I try not to look back… but I can almost feel his breath on my neck… he strikes but… I stumble just in time, causing him to miss. I skid forward as my body ungracefully meets the dirt. It hurts but I don’t stop to think and roll to left as Khethiwe massive snake body slithers pass me. I shiver at the thought that I would have been crushed under his weight. He turns around and faces me. I am getting up with great effort as my knees, elbows and hands are raw from the fall. My body is covered in scratches and I am bleeding…. Everything hurts … but I can't give up. Not now. Not after everything. Kheth
