Isabella Owens is 24 and newly single. After finding her fiancé in bed with her best friend the week before they were to be married, she was heartbroken and devastated and when she confronted them she found they had been messing around behind her back for some time
Broken and feeling defeated, she ran to her brother's house to hide out and to decide what she needed to do with her life. While talking with him, he suggested that she go to another town or even a new state and start over.
For the next week, she screened her calls and canceled every detail of the upcoming wedding, she lost all the deposits but figured that was better than marrying a cheating bâstard Then she changed her bank account number and withdrew half her savings and decided that it was best for her to get away from all of it. She had decided that she needed to move away from Houston and change her last name to her mother's maiden name to start fresh after the humiliation of not only his cheating but canceling her wedding, the judgment, and the looks of pity that were found anywhere she goes. She couldn't cope with the pain of their betrayal.
As the weeks passed, she discovered more of his secrets that she had no idea about, and it caused feelings she wasn't used to having... Hate... she never felt hate for a single person, but she did for her best friend and her ex. She hated them both with everything inside of her now. He ruined her life. The worst part of the whole thing is.. that it seems that everyone in their circle of friends knew about his affairs, but not a single fûcking person ever said a word to her about it. shît Even a warning would have been nice, at least.
But it only made her feel like she was making the right decision, leaving everything behind; after talking with her only brother and parents, she decided to take her parents and brothers' advice and go to Montana. Her aunt and uncle live there, and it would be nice to have someone she knew in a place she did not know.
She searched for a place to start fresh after searching the internet for homes that were affordable to move into. She found a cute country cottage in Bitterroot, Montana, that she fell in love with, so she made the calls and set up a time to see the property before she made a final decision.
She booked a flight from Houston to Montana, packed up, and went to bed for the night. It may not be the same town her aunt is in, but it was what she was looking for.
One month, she had given herself to get everything done and leave. She had to be careful of how she did things, so anyone wanting to find her from his group of friends wouldn't be able to locate her. She wanted a fresh start, and that meant she would leave everything and everyone in the past except for her closest family.
Her alarm wakes her from a restless sleep. She rolled over, shutting it off, stretched, and checked the time. It was 4 am. She had to be at the airport by 6 am to catch her flight. After showering and a cup of coffee, she set off for the airport. After getting her luggage checked and boarding,. She sat back in her window seat and closed her eyes, drifting off into a light sleep.
She was woken by the attendant telling everyone it was safe to move about the plane. She looked around her and noticed a man sitting in the seat near the aisle. He was busy reading a book. She turned to look out her window and looked at the land below. It was amazing how small everything looked from up in the air.
When the stewardess came around again, she asked for water and a sandwich. She had a few hours left before the plane would land in Bitterroot Valley, Montana, where her new beginning could happen.
When her food arrived, she ate in silence, thinking about what could possibly be awaiting her in the future, she was a bit scared of what was to come, but that was part of life's right changes and failed attempts to make a better life for herself.
She was brought from her thoughts by someone clearing his throat. Her head shot up to see where it came from, and she was surprised to see the man sitting one seat away from her.
She stared into those icy blue eyes with no clear thoughts forming. Wow, he is handsome. He smiled slightly. "Hi, my name is James. I couldn't help but notice we are reading the same book." She smiled back at him. "Hi, I'm Isabella," she said, taking his outstretched hand and shaking it slightly," I didn't notice the title of your book. earlier when I saw you reading before, it seems we have the same taste in reading materials." He laughed at her choice of words, and she soon joined his laughter. She felt a little embarrassed about the way she said that but brushed it off. He thought she was funny.
They chatted a while, and before they knew it, the seat belt sign came on, and the announcement that we would land soon was made. He worked up the courage to ask her if she was here for business or pleasure, and she told him of her journey of finding a new home, and that she would be here for two days before she went back to Houston.
They landed and departed the plane, still chatting. He was interesting to her, and she never felt uncomfortable talking to him, so when he offered her a ride to her motel, she accepted instantly." I would like that thank you, and it will save me the time of waiting for a cab or Uber." He led the way to the underground parking area and to a black and chrome pickup truck helping her into the passenger seat and closed her door then he went to the driver side, and they drove out of the darkness into the bright blue sunny sky of Montana." Wow, she breathed out amazed at the beauty of the land around her. She turned to look at him with wide eyes, and he chuckled at her expression." I never knew it was so beautiful. I mean, I've heard it was pretty, but nothing I have ever seen compared to this.
He smiled and agreed with her, but inside, he was battling with himself. He was insanely attracted to her, and he didn't know why he had literally just met her 3 hours ago, so he needed to control himself. He kept watching the road and watching her at the same time he didn't want to leave her and not get her phone number, so he worked up the courage to ask her." So, um Isabella, I was thinking maybe we could exchange numbers, and if you might need anything, you can call me. I'd be happy to help you with anything you may need or want." He smiled shyly once he parked in the front of her motel and waited for her to respond.
She blinked quickly and took a deep breath, smiled back, and said," Yeah, okay. I think it would be good to have a local as a friend maybe you could show me around. " She giggled at him when he handed her his phone. Here, make sure you save it under beautiful new friend. Okay," we both laughed, and I knew I was blushing. After he added his number to her phone, he helped her get her luggage out and said goodbye. She turned and went to check in for the next few days.
After settling in, she ordered dinner and showered while she waited for her food to arrive. After she had her dinner, she went to her social media and started blocking everyone who had anything to do with the asṣhole ex-fiance and her so-called best friend. She didn't want them to know where she had gone to or that she had changed her last name.
