The next morning, they both woke to find themselves wrapped in each other’s arms on the couch. Neither commented on it. Jessica stirred first. Her body was stiff, but her head throbbed less than the day before. Careful not to wake Mark, she untangled herself and padded to the bathroom for a long, solitary shower.
