Kat gritted her teeth, fighting against her pain as she shifted for the first time. She whimpered softly as she felt her bones breaking. Unfortunately, the first shift was the most painful, and she had to do it alone. She had been strung aside from her pack, forced into isolation over a stupid mistake. She let out a loud growl as the last snap of her bones shifting into place could be heard.
After laying on the ground for a moment, she stood up, carefully pressing each paw to the ground with a wince. She shook her coat out, and with it the last of her pain. Her eyes glimmer as she looks around at her surroundings. Everything looked so different, sharper somehow. She padded over to the shallow stream that acted as a border of her old pack.
She gazed down at her reflection, amazed at the bright blue eyes staring back at her. Her wolf was absolutely stunning. All black, with some gray speckling around her eyes and nose. She purred lightly, happy with her new found form. With that, she turned and started running. Careful not to cross back into her old territory, she weaved around trees.
The feeling of the wind in her fur filled her with joy, the crunch of leaves and twigs beneath her paws filled her with hope. She was going to earn back her place in the pack, she was certain of it.
