Chapter 4

TW: mention of v*olence

Unknown POV

I watched the exchange between the Alpha and Beta leaders in the courtyard. They didn’t know I was there and that I caught some of what they said. Their conversation had mostly been mind-linked so I couldn’t hear it, but the Beta’s last sentence really caught my attention.

“Alpha whatever you decide, know I will be behind you every step of the way.”

When the Alpha hugged Beta I knew it was something that would interest the Alpha’s daughter greatly. She was paying me in cash and occasionally a blow job to keep an eye on her father and his beta. The girl was a psycho but with her rank, it was wise to just do what she wanted. It pissed me and many others off at what she accused Ryan of doing to her. I knew the guy and always liked him. Ryan would never do that to her or any other woman. I wasn’t the only one who thought he got a s*itty deal getting banished.

Lena was probably feeling vulnerable and I decided to milk this for what it was worth. Let Lena know what it’s like to be used.

I took out my phone. A&B in courtyard talking. Heard some of convo. Can we meet?

Two minutes later, my phone dinged. Your place.

I went back to my place and waited for her to show up. About 10 minutes later I heard a knock on my door. “Come in.”

Lena sauntered in, blonde hair brushed and blue eyes blazing. I could smell arousal and s*x.

“Damn couldn’t you have showered first?” Seriously, this b*tch has no shame.

“Shut up and tell me what you know!” I looked at her, already getting pissed off.

“Well I will but I want some compensation first.”

“Here! She reached into her pocket and pulled $50 out, slamming it on my coffee table and plopping down on the couch.

I was a little disappointed I wouldn’t be getting a blow job tonight, but the way she looks right now? She’d have bit my d*ck off anyway.

“Alright so your dad and the Beta were in the courtyard. Your dad started crying asking what he should do about you. They mind-linked and I didn’t hear anymore, until the Beta broke the link and said he’d be behind the Alpha every step of the way. They hugged and then went into the castle. That’s all I know.”

Lena looked at me carefully then smiled.

“Thank you for telling me this. You earned that $50 and much more.” She got up and went to my kitchen to grab what I assumed was a drink. I felt a sharp pain in the back of my head, then after that nothing more.

Lena's POV

As much as killing that piece of sh*t gave me pleasure, I messed up. I was just…..so angry. Because I KNEW exactly what my father and Tom were up to. Cal was just there and I took my rage out on him. I listened intently for any howls of pain. Cal was unmated and if his future mate was in this pack, she would know he had just died. I listened for about 5 minutes and when I heard nothing, I got to work covering my tracks. I couldn't just leave Cal's body here.

Not many know that thousands of years ago, Crescent Moon used to be part of a cave system. There are currently a few caves that can be explored, but only one is very well hidden. I came across it by accident on a run years ago. I decide to hide Cal's body there and let other pack members assume he just went somewhere. Luckily, there was a place to hide him in the innermost wall, a crevice that was practically inaccessible. I shifted and picked Cal up and ran as fast as I could to the caves. I hid him in the crevice and sat down, deep in thought.

My father and Tom were trying to take away what was mine. I couldn't let that happen. I WILL BE ALPHA. And all those who want to get in my way will be dealt with.

First things first…Daddy has to have another heart attack. I didn’t give him enough the last time to make it fatal. I won’t make that mistake again.

Second…I’ll have to deal with Beta Tom. His death will have to be accidental-he’s too healthy and a sudden death will raise questions.

Third…I’ll have to get Gemma banished. I could never stand that pious little b*tch. Yet I don’t know what Tom has told her and I need her out of the way. I’d kill her, but a young werewolf girl dropping dead would really get out of control fast. It will be a lot easier to get her banished.

Why couldn’t things ever be easy?

They're going to catch you! My wolf Liz snarled.

F*ck you! You rejected my one true love and got him banished!! Now you just killed a pack member and think you will get away with it?! Why in the hell the Goddess put me with the likes of you I’ll never understand!!

Ryan is lower than cow sh*t Liz! All he has to offer to us or any other woman is good s*x! And Cal knew too damn much!

Bullsh*t! Ryan loved you, he loved us!!! He didn’t care who you were, that’s how good of a person he is. You chose wrong, Lena! I will suffer forever because of your choice!

One day I’ll put a muzzle on you. Shut UP!! I closed Liz out.

Every werewolf will tell you their wolf is their best friend…I hate mine with a passion. If I could cut her out of me, I wouldn’t hesitate.

Ryan…even now thinking about him hurts. I did care for Ryan once. Rejecting him was one of the harder things I’ve had to do. Goddess only gives you one chance at love; very seldom two chances. But a female Alpha needs a strong man by her side and one who can take control if she isn’t certain about her decisions. Not that I ever needed help making them. I’ve done pretty well so far.

The bottom line is that Ryan can never be what I need him to be. He is too low and has no class. He’s hot, he can screw, but he is not good for anything more. I know my rejection hurt him and I DID feel bad about it then. I don’t feel bad now.

Calling me that name was something he NEVER should have done. And now he and a few certain others know what happens when I get pissed off.
