Jade’s POV
“Are you ready?” Ryan asked me.
“Yes.” Ryan bit into my neck at the exact same time James bit into Katie’s. Within minutes, I was trembling and felt horrible. Ryan covered me with a blanket and laid down next to me. “You should try to sleep, that may help.” Which I did, though it wasn’t restful sleep. I had nightmares about my mother and about David. I woke up screaming, and Ryan pulled me to him and rubbed my back.
“You’re OK Jade. You're safe.”
“I don’t want to dream about him anymore.” I whimpered.
“I know.”
“I’m worried about the baby.” Dr. Rhodes and his staff had me hooked up to a fetal monitor, but that did little to reassure me.
“She’s doing just fine. Anita is right outside if we need her.”
“Ryan?”
“Yes?”
“Will it be safe to mark me?”
