9. Winner Takes All

Cindy Maybe holding onto a shifter's leg was a bad idea. A growl erupted from its throat. "Drop it!" I shouted. "Drop it or you're a bad boy!" That seemed to piss them off. Before long they kicked a clump of dirt into my face. But I was a fighter and didn't let that get me down, no matter how many times I had to blink. They gave in and used their claws to try to get me to let go of them. Sadly, it worked. My once healthy hand now suffered from lines of broken skin, some deep enough to draw blood. A noise resembling a cackle came from them. Soon, they were off again. I shot up to my feet, clenched my hands into fists, and bolted after them. Pain was only temporary.
