Rafe managed to push open the car door and swing his legs to the ground, but he was too weak to stand on his own. I hauled him to his feet, and together we shuffled up the steps of the porch. “The door's locked, and I don't have a key. So give me a minute and let me see if I can open it my own way. If not, I'll have to break a window." Rafe didn't answer, and I concentrated my focus on the lock, turning tumblers and then sliding the deadbolt.
